SOG - Spunky Sprite

Yes, sniff, sniff!  It's the last day of the gorgeous fairy releases over at Some Odd Girl.  Today's stunning fairy is named - appropriately - Spunky Sprite.  Oh she's just so sassy!!  I printed her out three times.  Once on Copic Xpress blending paper, and then twice on two different patterned papers.  I colored her first with my Copics and then paper pieced her dress, and her right arm so that it had the proper proportions.  I then paper pieced another layer (see the red ruffle on her dress?) for added dimension.

I created my monochromatic white background on SU! Shimmery White paper using an entire alphabet stamp set, Versamark Ink and clear embossing powder.

I perched Spunky on a lengthened banner strip cut out of Kraft cardstock, layered with TH decorative tape that I simply tore at the edge.  I used die cut letters to create my simple sentiment "ily" - I Love You.  Just so sweet =)

For my interior, I used the heart and arrow accents from the beautiful Crushin' Gwen clear set.

I do hope you've enjoyed our fabulous fairy release this week!  Come on by and check out the newest challenge over at the Some Odd Girl Challenge Blog!

P&S - New Releases

Greetings everyone!!  Today is a wonderful as it's new release day over at Paper and Such Stamps!!  I have three creations to show you today using different techniques to highlight all of the great new sets being released.  But first, I hope you've come hopping from my dear friend Kendra's blog!  If not, please come hop with us starting at the Paper and Such Design Team Blog!

I inked the gorgeous daffodils onto really good quality watercolor paper using Colorbox ink in black.  I then heat set them using black embossing powder.  I took my Distress Ink pads, face down on my Ranger Craft Sheet and got ink on one side of my mat.  I then misted my colors with my pearlized water and began to paint the image in as if I was watercoloring.  It's super pearly and shiny because I kept adding more pearlized water (a mix of water and Perfect Pearls powder in a spritz bottle).  I kept painting and moving the color around until I was happy.  I then used Ouchless Cardboard and a variety of papers that I had brought together from my scrap bin to pull the rest of the creation together.  I used my TH rosette die, another stamp from the set, some twine and a button to bring a beautiful cluster together in the lower right hand corner.  I used my MS butterfly punch, layered 6 times (being held together with Glossy Accents) and embellished with some black and white baker's twine for antennae.

My second creation features Your Love Lifts Me Up.  Isn't she THE SWEETEST???  I inked her in Tuxedo Black Momento ink and colored her with my Copics.  I then paper pieced her dress making sure to piece the sleeve of her dress separately along with her arm to ensure the proper perspective and dimension.

I paper pieced her balloon as well as the two balloons around here which I stamped by masking off the girl holding them with a sticky note.  I stamped the sentiment onto self-adhesive canvas which adds a great textural touch.  I am entering this particular card into ISpy Sketches challenge - ISSC01.  It's a great sketch and one I couldn't pass up!

My next creation uses one of the three basic and lovely sentiments that everyone should have in their stampy arsenal.  I chose to use the sentiment Love You; stamping in black, sponging with Old Paper Distress Ink, coating in Versamark and heat setting with clear embossing powder.

My card is small (4x4) and dressed up very sweetly.  I wanted a rustic and vintage vibe so I've used scraps that were on my desk combined with a true vintage ledger pad (background most paper with writing on it) that I picked up at a wonderful Antique store in Maine for one dollar. Love that.

I added some resin flowers (I'm addicted) and a few cuts with some of my favorite dies, a bit of stitching, a melon ribbon and called it a day!  =)

I hope you've enjoyed my tiny peeks through this week and have enjoyed seeing the full views!  Come by the P&S store and check out the full line of stamps, amazingly fabulous new MME and more papers in the store as well as the fabby new twine colors!!

Off you hop now to my friend Stephanie's blog to see what she's come up with for this great release!!

SOG - Flutist Fairy

I know, I KNOW!!!  Aren't Kristy's new images AMAZING?!?!?  Oh I'm more in love with each one as the release days go on!!  Today we're previewing Flutist Fairy.  I love how elegant and sweet she is.  I've colored her with my Copics and paper pieced her dress.  As you can see I've left the ruffly hem of her dress up for added dimension.  I paired her with some sweet DP that I had in my stash, Tim Holtz music note tape and a bit of stitching.

I used my TH rosette die, my MFT Hearts A Plenty Die-namics, combined with a button and some rustic twine to create the scrappy grouping in the lower left hand corner.

I kept my interior very simple and sweet.
I hope you are having as much fun with this release as I am!

Thanks for popping by!

Bombshell Sketch Time!!!

Hey Y'all Bombshell Fans out there!  Today is a wonderful day because it's Bombshell Sketch Wednesday!  This month's sketch is simply fabulous!!  Here's my take on it:

I've inked up Hula Girl and colored her with my Copics.  I paper pieced her skirt and bikini top.  I used lots of fun tropical colored designer paper scraps that I have in a mish mash bin.

I pulled some fabulous brads that I've had in my stash for well a longgggggggggg time now just waiting for the right creation to come along and VOILA!  Here is it.

My sentiment is from the Homeward Bound stamp set.  My sewing machine was being really wonky but since it did it on both sides I simply left it!  I need to un-thread, clean out the dust and re-thread me thinks ;)

I hope you have enjoyed my creation!!  Thanks so much for popping by today!

Above is a shot of the interior which I do my best to try to complete as well as it really gives each creation an extra special touch.

My Favorite Things Guest Designer Challenge - Pint Sized Perpetual Journal

Greetings friends!!  I'm here to show you my entry for this month's Guest Designer Challenge over at My Favorite Things Stamps.  This month we've been challenged to STAMP OUR HEART OUT.  And boy..did I EVER!!  (my fingers too!)  LOL!

I have always loved journals and notebooks.  I buy them, put them on my shelves, and look at them.  I never use them!  I think I'm intimidated by the vast amount of blank space available.  So...after seeing this done similarly somewhere whilst browsing recently I have created a pint sized perpetual journal for my family.  It's not just for me.  Everyone loved the idea of participating in it!  Here's how it works.  There is a card for every day of the year.  Yes, I stamped a date onto 365 index cards.  But more about that in a minute.  Every month is separated by specialty dividers.  On any given day you pull out a card.  For example, this past Sunday's card read *Superbowl Sunday - Party At Auntie's* 2012.  And I tucked it back in.  Saturday's card read *Created pint sized perpetual journal for MFT*.  Make sense?  That way there's no massive commitment yet you get to look back and see what you did on that day last year, the year before, etc.  The first year is obviously the most "lackluster", if you will because you have to get it started but I'm really looking forward to next year to see the previous years activities!

Ok so now that I've explained how it works here's how I made it.  I kept aside a nice, clean and dry pint container from the market.  I needed 180 - 4"x6" lined index cards.  I then cut those in half making 360 and then added a few for those months that are a bit longer.  You know the rule - 30 days has September, April, June and then November all the rest have 31...etc.

So I have 365 index cards measuring 3"x4".  I have a vintage style library stamp that I used the point of my Momento tear drop ink pad to meticulously ink only the month and day as the year was part of the stamp and I did not want that.  Stamp, flip date, ink, stamp.  Stamp, flip date, ink, stamp.  Did I mention there were 365 of them?  That was step one.
I then needed to divide the months.  I decided that I wanted a color scheme of mainly Kraft, Red and Turquoise.  I know it's hot right now but it's one of my most favorite color combinations of all time.  So I decided that the dividers would be Kraft cardstock.  I pulled out the First Class Friends Stamp set and used the great small text stamp as the background for each divider.  I used my Fiskar's Stamp Press, Champagne colored Versamark ink and clear embossing powder.  Each card is 4.5" tall so it took about 3.5 times per card to stamp the script with the Versamark Ink.  I did three dividers at a time, then I'd sprinkle with embossing powder and heat set.  Then three more, etc until all twelve were done.
I then looked through all of my favorite MFT dies and decided to use my Rounded Banner Trio Die-namics for the tab dividers.  I cut them in alternating red and turquoise cardstock from SU!.  I used my Who's That Birthday Girl birthday numbers - and yes...I did it..I cut the flame off of the top of each of the numbers in order for them to suit my needs!!  I found I rarely used them so I wasn't that heartbroken to do so.  I then inked each number and stamped them to represent each month of the year.

I adhered all pieces together and placed the month tabs, left justified, using a single bead of Glossy Accents.  I added a bit of zig zag stitching, and a felt heart to each month cut using my very favorite Hearts A Plenty Die-namics Die.

I then set to decorating every month's divider tab.  I sat and thought on this for a while.  I knew I wanted to use a different PI to represent each month respectively.  But I wanted to do something else...but didn't know what.  So I sat on it for a while...and thought.  While I thought I stamped and colored.  I stamped, colored and paper pieced twelve different Pure Innocence images.
And then it came to me.  The theme is STAMP YOUR HEART OUT.  So yes to stamping, yes to hearts, and...and...BINGO..yes to STAMPS!!  Postage stamps!! I wanted to make a faux line of commemorative Pure Innocence Stamps!!  So I pulled out my postage stamp die from the First Class Friends set and played around with different papers and textures.  I decided on corrugated cardboard which gets a wonderful texture once run through the die cutting machine.  So I cut 12 postage frames which I then sponged using a Ranger acrylic white paint dabber, I coated them in white embossing powder and heat set.  This step was mainly to get the paint dry faster but it added even more fabulous texture.  I cut 12 more frames and centers, this time in white.  But I only needed the center part.  I inked "First Class" in black ink and then overlayed it with the heart from the same First Class Friends inked with Momento ink in Red.  As a final touch to the "faux postage stamp" I added a bling circle to the stamped grouping on the right hand side of each stamp.  So now all twelve "stamps" have the same basic design elements.

Now it was time to create a stamp for each month!!  FUN!!!

I chose a stamp set to coordinate with each month as you will see below.  Each Pure Innocence Image is paper pieced in some way.  I used the same 4 or 5 paper packs revolving so that all colors, textures and designs for all twelve cards will be harmonious and happy!  =)  The 6x6 paper packs used are as follows:  MME - Love Me and Blush, Fancy Pants - Love Story, Basic Grey - Kissing Booth and LilyBeeDesigns - Head Over Heels.

We start here with the month of January.  My children for the first time ever have started skating lessons and they started in January so the perfect place to start was with PI - Ice Princess.
She (like all images) is colored with Copics and her dress and tights are paper pieced.  Oh there's something about those tan skates that I just love SO much!

February brings you PI - I Love You This Big!

His shirt, pants and tiny hands are all paper pieced.  His gorgeous heart is coated in a luscious layer of Glossy Accents.

For the month of March I have used the oh so sweet PI Daffodil.
I had a beautiful time coloring in her gorgeous flower and paper piecing her dress.

Since April showers always bring May flowers I decided to use PI - My Umbrella.

She is oh so darling with her paper pieced raincoat and umbrella as well as those sweet tiny hands and she is rocking her super shiny boots and umbrella thanks to another fabulous coat of Glossy Accents.

We celebrate May for it's warm weather and fun days!  So I chose PI - Jump For Joy.
I have paper pieced her sweet dress, belt and collar.  I want a dress like that!!

There is nothing better on a June evening than heading to a local fair!!  It simply screams summer!  So for this month I chose PI Sweet Greetings.
I have paper pieced her top and leggings and given her cotton candy a fluffy coating of pink flock!!

For July there is nothing sweeter than this PI Water lily image!
I have paper pieced her dress and flower and given her shoes a slick coat of Glossy Accents.

What better way to visualize summer than with the delicious PI Make Mine A Double?!? =)
I sooooooooooo want a dress in this pattern!!!  I have pieced her dress, ice cream cone and hand.  Using Glossy Accents I glazed up her delicious strawberry gelato!!  (It looks like gelato to me...don't ask me why!!?)

September rings in the new school year so I, of course, reached for the adorable PI You Make The Grade.
I pieced her skirt, sweater, collar, tiny hands (yes both left and right).  I also pieced the frame and stand on the chalk board and added a stitched felt heart for an added sweet touch.

Oh one of the most fun months...October!  I inked up PI Little Witch.
Oh I love her SO much in these non-traditional colors for Halloween!!  I have paper pieced her tights, dress and hat.  I coated her broom in a thick layer of Crackle Accents, which is a bit hard to see in the photo but it looks super cool IRL!

November brings cool weather, pumpkin patch visits, sweaters and treats like delicious caramel apples!  So obviously I inked up PI - Caramel Apple.
I pieced her sweater, pants, left hand and apple!  I coated the apple and her sweet blue shoes in Glossy Accents to make them super shiny!!

And lastly, but not least, Christmas brings us beauty and sweetness with PI Holly Girl.
Once again, her dress and sash are pieced.  I colored the holly berries with my red Sakura pen and then coated with Glossy Accents for some delicious extra shine as I also did with her pretty party shoes.

Behind each "commemorative stamp" is coordinating papers from my variety of 6x6 packs.  I used different patterns stitched simply around the edge to make each image pop a bit.

The back of these cards when placed in the pint container looked a bit...well...naked!  So I just went through the paper packs I'd used and pulled fun mix and match colors and patterns and simply covered the back of each month's divider card.  It looks SO pretty!!

Here is a shot of the entire Pint Sized Perpetual Journal all wrapped up, hearts abound, colors displaying and everything is neat, tidy and waiting to be used!!  This would make a GORGEOUS gift and an idea that I'm going to be hanging onto for the future when I need something really special to give to a crafty friend.  But this one, my labor of stampy love, is for my family.
Thanks so much for sticking with me for this long post!  It was truly a fabulous journey working with all of the gorgeous MFT products.  For me, creating things like this for my home and my family to have and cherish is literally the BEST feeling.

Some Odd Girl - Much Love

Oh Happy Day!!!  It's time for a new release over at Some Odd Girl!!  You are going to be blown away by the unbelievable gorgeousness that is being displayed today at Some Odd Girl!

Today's lovely is called Flower Fairy.  Isn't she SWEET?!?!  I printed her on Copic X-press blending paper twice.  I colored her first with my Copics.  I then colored her wings on the second print out using a tie dye pattern.  I trimmed the wings out and adhered them just to her body with my Quickie Glue Pen leaving the edges of her wings unglued and fluffed up.

I went with a color palette of purple, grey, kraft and red.  I used some dies and stitching for punches of texture and layers.

I used the sentiment 'much love' from the Lovey Tobey clear set.  I did snip apart the sentiment so that I could fit it on my banner panel.

I hope you love the new Flower Fairy as much as I do!!  See you tomorrow with another new release!!

This week's challenge at Dilly Beans is 'Zombie Love'!  Cute, huh?  I've used a sweet and not so scary zombie image #242- Dunce Cap Zombie with Heart.

Once on white Copic Xpress Blending cardstock and three more times on designer paper.  I paper piece the frame, hair, hat, neck and heart.  I colored the rest with my Copics.  I always color first and piece after.  I did a bit of stitching and used some quick and sweet Valentine's Day embellishments to finish my card off.

So excited to be an ODD GIRL!!!

Yes...you're reading it correctly!!  I've officially been asked to join the Odd Girl Design Team for the next term!!  WOO HOO!  I'm so crazy excited!!  I've been holding it in for a bit now and it's been killing me!  LOL!  I'm honored to be chosen among such wonderful talent.  Kristy has both amazing digital and acrylic stamps.  Her images are sweet, sassy and oh so fun!  To celebrate this exciting announcement I've created a card, using Suave Kody, that I tucked into my son's lunchbox today.
I used a mish mash of papers from a scrap box that I've been trying to get through as I have no more room in all of my color coordinated scrap drawers!  (gasp!)  I have paper pieced his outfit and shoes.  He is colored with Copics which I did before piecing his clothing. My sentiment on the front is from the acrylic Lovey Tobie set.
I also finished the interior using three hearts from Lovey Tobey and Nutsy Kaylee.

Once again, I am just thrilled to be an Odd Girl!!

Thanks for coming by today!

Do You Smash?

Do you Smash?  I know, it sounds like a personal question of one variation or another but really...it's journaling perfection.  For years, I've been searching for a way to keep all of the bits of things, papers, tickets, random loose photos,  napkin drawings, clothing tags that look cool...(I know I'm not the only one who does this!;) at bay.  However, they are not at bay.  They are loose and everywhere.  Filling boxes, junk drawers, and old purses to the brim.  (I'm so NOT a hoarder! ;)

Well...insert Smash.  I picked one up (did I mention my Journaling Addiction?...guess not) while shopping with a friend before the holidays.  Well, I actually picked two up which happened to come in very handy when I needed a last minute gift!  And I've been playing with it ever since.
I love the idea of mixed media journaling.  Could I make one of these books myself?  Yes, of course.  But there's something just 'easy' about having it already done.  I love blank journals and own tons of them but the different images, designer papers, and beautiful colors that are inside of the Smash books is just wonderful.  There are different color bindings, cover images as well as a different theme for each interior.  The only thing I don't like is that they are spiral bound which means that you can't add to them.  But on the flip side, if they were three ring bound I'd probably stuff too much into them so having them limit me is probably for the best!  LOL!  The books come in full size which is roughly 8" x 10" and a mini which is about 6" x 7" or so.  They all come with a pen/glue stick combo that has a wonderful elastic band to hold it together with the journal.  (sweet!)
I've also acquired a beginning kit from Project Life.  But I'll save that for another post considering mine is STILL in the box!  For me, I'm scattered.  I do my best to keep it all together and I think I do a pretty darn good job but when it comes to things like journaling and scrapbooking - things I LOVE but just don't/can't make the time for these kit style systems are just perfect!

I hope you have enjoyed the pics of all the things that I have Smashed!  Right now it has a few pieces of art that my kids have made.  It's the perfect place for me to cherish and save them safely!!
Awesome Smash date stamp
Fabulous Smash pads

I'll be back with more Smashing soon!!  Thanks for popping by!!
