Tiddly Inks Challenge #54 - Simplify

Good Morning Friends!!!  I'm totally LOVING this week's Tiddly Inks Challenge and I know you will too!!  Our challenge to you is to SIMPLIFY!  Create a one layer card - use or ribbon, twine or fibers is ok but no layering!!  GULP!!  I have to admit this was a challenge for me.  A serious challenge.  I've worked hard over the years to add interest, volume, and lots and lots of UMPH to my cards (LOL) so to bring it back to a single layer without all of the STUFF that I feel makes my creations mine was rather difficult.

So as I usually do, I started with choosing an image.  I was drawn to Colorful World.  I'm finding that with school winding down and summer ramping up we're having an obvious shift in our schedules.  We are a family of artists.  My dining room has completely been converted into a full time art studio.  For all of us.  There's either coloring, puzzle making, play-doh, drawing, painting, collage making, you name it...at any given time of day and in many stages of completion.  So I wanted to start the summer off right with a creation that embodies all of our inner artists.

I colored my image using my Copics.  I glittered and glazed up her jumbo paintbrush and flocked her floppy artists hat.  I set her aside overnight to dry.  I added a sparkly gem for a little bling.  I then carefully trimmed her out and set her aside.

I cut my yellow card base out of Bazzill textured cardstock, using one of my Spellbinders Nestie Circles.  Using a fabulous "doily-esque" stamp from The Paper Source, Versamark ink, and clear embossing powder I created a beautiful background.  I then stitched the perimeter using a zig zag stitch in bright green thread to match her hat.  I stamped my "sentiment" over top of the background image in Momento Ink.  It says the following:

"Fear Less, Hope More
Eat Less, Chew More
Whine Less, Breathe More
Talk Less, Say More
Love More...
And All Good Things Will Be Yours.
-Swedish proverb"

After that was dry, I added my trimmed out image to the right hand side of the card.  She snuggled in just perfectly.
I was very happy with how pretty and full this card is considering how little is used on it!  I hope you have fun with our Simplify challenge!!  Come play with us here!!!

Crafty Hugs!
