My creations today us the new and absolutely ADORABLE "Geekatude", "Flutterby" and "Tanker".  (I couldn't help myself!!  =)

We start with Geekatude.  Isn't he ADORABLE??  I love his tie (my 5 year old son often wears ties for no reason!) and his funky sneakers and iPod!!  I went with a 5.5 x 5.5 size card base.  I used Core cardstock for my base and took a nail file to it to grunge it up.  I then used both music notes and blue check paper (both from a DCWV mat stack) as my background papers.  I stitched and layered and grunged everything up.  I used my coveted Jillibean Soup paper - Atomic Soup for the background of my Nestie circle.  I've been waiting for SO long to bust this paper out.  I must get more as I just LOVE it!  I used my Nesties for my sentiment panel.  My sentiment says "reboot".  Perfect considering he's carrying lots of electronic media!!  I also used my sparkly black number stickers to add the number Pi to the upper right hand corner.  (heheeh - so fabulously "geeky") Embellishments also include a yellow binder clip tied with two tiny pieces of red and white baker's twine.  With lots of stitching I concluded this piece to be complete!  =)
My secret special letter today is the letter "E"!  (in case the .png file doesn't show for some reason)

The interior of my card is a mix of yellows and blues.  Again, lots of stitching, my Hello sentiment is from SU! and I added a cute, jumbo, plaid brad as an added little touch.
My next creation uses the oh so adorable Flutterby.  I just love the nature inspired quality this image has.  Barefoot in pigtails playing with butterflies...does it get any better?  I printed her out twice and colored her with my Copics.  The second image I only colored her hair and trimmed it out.  I then added it to my originally colored image popping her hair up on foam dots.  I glittered up her butterflies using my Quickie Glue Pen and my Super Nova glitter from SU!

I used a mish mash of papers from my scrap stash to pull together different styles with similar vibes.  The card base is 5.5 x 5.5.  The card base is Kraft, followed by Olive cardstock from SU!, followed by Core cardstock that has butterflies on it.  You can't see them on the front but you will see them on the interior of the card.  I've distressed my paper with a nail file so that the butterflies stand out more.  I layered and stitched all over the place for a cozy look.  I used my jumbo scallop punch on the very preppie green and blue gingham paper.  I then used my adorable, pastel alphabet stickers to cover the edge of the scallop.  I added a dark, kelly green polka dotted ribbon in a puffy, sweet bow.
My sentiment is from PTI - "Enjoy everyday - Enjoy life".  My rolled roses are done in yellow cardstock, coated in Modge Podge and glittered up using my Doodlebug Glitter in Bumblebee Yellow.  I have adhered them on with 3-D glue dots.
My card interior has more of the Core cardstock with butterflies as you can see here.  I've used three nested circles for space for a little note.  I truly love the simplicity of this image and tried to mimic that in the interior here.
Next up is the GORGEOUS and totally hardcore Tanker.  She is a Steampunk Goth Pin-up and I KNOW you'll love her!!  Sweet, sassy and edgy.  Just my kind of gal!!

I've once again, colored Tanker in with my Copic markers.  I then took my watercolor crayons and roughly colored all around her.  I took a paintbrush and a small amount of water to move and push that color all around.  I adhered her to a panel of gray SEI designer paper and stitched around her.  I then tore around a bit of the edging to grunge it up a bit.  My background papers are a mix of the same SEI paper pack and G45 Steampunk Debutante.  I used the sketch inspiration from the most recent sketch challenge over at the Smeared and Smudged forum.
The chocolate brown polka dotted paper is more of the Core cardstock that I scuffed, stitched and tore up.  My embellishments are also from G45.  The rusty washer is from my darling husband's tool bench!  =)
I, once again, kept the card interior rather simple.  Using the same papers I grabbed my Nesties (I can't seem to create without them now!! lol!) and added three layers with a simple sentiment of Thank You.
As a very special thank you to you all for being such loyal Tiddly Inks fans I have a jumbo prize pack for you!!!  All you have to do is follow along and leave love for each of our amazing artists in order to be entered into the drawing!!  Here is a picture of what I am offering up.  I am also going to list the contents as I couldn't capture everything in the photo:

Tiddly Inks - Challenge #47 - April Showers Bring May Flowers

If you are a follower or avid reader of Paper Canteen then you will know that my absolute favorite weather of ALL time is rain.  I can't explain it.  It simply soothes me.  It helps me think and it makes me smile.  Don't get me wrong, I truly enjoy the sun, the snow, the gorgeous, crisp fall days that we get here in New England...but the is just something about the rain.  So when this challenge came up I was so pleased!!  I didn't go too "traditional" in terms of the rain persay but you'll understand when you see my card.

I started with Ty the Tap Dancer.  I can't help but be drawn to this image as my son's name is Ty and he does Tap, Ballet and Gymnastics.  Coincidence?  Not so much ;)  (thanks Christy!!)  I colored Ty in with my Copics and trimmed him out ever so carefully.  I set him aside and went diving into my ever growing stash of scraps.  I went with blues, greens and light yellows as they remind me of a rainy spring day.

I layered my scallops and stitched on each panel.  I used the lyrics from the song "Singin' In The Rain" as my sentiment.  I chose 'homegrown' font in MS Word and printed it out in green lettering.  I then ran it through my Big Shot using a label die.  I sponged the entire sentiment panel with green and blue inks.  I adhered it to my card and trimmed off the excess so that it looked like a stormy cloud passing through.

My other embellishments include printed clip art music notes from MS Word, chocolate brown seam binding, and natural linen twine with a bright orange button tied to it.
I hope you have enjoyed and been inspired today!!  Please come along and play with us over at the TI Challenge Blog!!  Showers or Flowers, it's up to you!!

Comfort Zone, What???

Good Saturday Morning!!!  I'm popping in on this fabulous day - Earth Day - with a fun creation inspired by the most recent MFT sketch challenge.  Today I've used one of the MFT - a la modes - Miss You A Latte
I was inspired by this green and blue checkered paper that I've had lying around for EVER!!!  (lol!)  It completely intimidates me as it's just so preppie!!  And as much as I LOVE preppie style...I've never quite been able to pull it off.  I live in black.  Lots of black clothing - my car has just about ALWAYS been black, black purses, accessories...etc.  But I'm getting WAY more into color these days.

Whilst on vacation this week in Maine, my hubby, kids and I took a trip to Freeport to visit L.L. Bean.  And yes, I bought not one but TWO button down shirts!!!  One polka dotted and one in pink gingham!!!  HUH?  I know...I know.  But they were calling me.  And they fit really well!!  So preppie...here I come??  LOL!!

But I digress.  So I went with the gingham paper here and combined pink and chocolate brown into the mix.  I paper pieced our dear a la modes outfit as well as the labels on the coffee cups she's holding.

I've started creating two of most cards that I make - just to have in my stash when I need them.  So you'll see here that I've done two different card interiors.

If you want to play along - simply upload your creation here!!

Thanks for popping by today!!

You're A Stitch!

Good Tiddly Tuesday Everyone!!!  I'm so glad to be back to our regular posting!!  I LOVEDDDDDD everyone's entries in the Bunny Hop Challenge!!  Today I'm bringing you a sample for our new challenge this week called "You're A Stitch".  All you have to do is include some kind of stitching anywhere on your card.  It can be with a sewing machine if you have one, by hand or faux stitching with a pen!  Anyway that works for you!!
I chose to use one of my all time favorite Tiddly Images - Bathing Beauty.  I printed her out three times.  I then paper pieced her bathing suit and cap along with her swell rose colored floatie!  I colored the rest of my
beauty with my Copics.

My papers are all American Crafts except for the Kraft base (SU!).  The little toy boat is also an older SU! stamp.  I created my sunset background by taking Real Red and Daffodil (SU! inks) and an Inky spot by Inkadinkado in Pumpkin.  I sponged them all together to create the beautiful sunset.  I then layered and stitched the sunset onto a super bright pink (almost looks red) polka dotted background and created my waves out of rows of scallops.  I added two floral glass headed pins as tiny adornments in my waves.
My interior uses the same papers from the AC selection.  I've used a PTI sentiment and my nesties to create a cute and oh so bright eye catching center.  I also stitched the interior to create harmony between the interior and exterior.

I do hope you join us for this fun and easy challenge!!!

I'm also entering this into The Spotted Chick - That's Krafty Thursday #50!

MFT Wednesday Stamp Club

Another awesome Wednesday!!  Above is this week's sketch challenge.  So cute, huh?  And here is my interpretation!!

I used both Bo Bunny and SU! papers.  My image is from MFT's Lovin From The Oven set.  I inked up using Tuxedo Black Momento Ink.  I then paper pieced the entire image.  I love this technique.  It reminds me of playing paper dolls as a kid!  Just. so. fun.

I stitched and layered, added a QT pie bow and some floating, glittery cupcakes.

And, yes, I'm now addicted to completing the inside of a card!!  (thanks Jo!!  ;)  But it looks SO fabulous and way finished!!  Such a must!!

I do hope you enjoy and have been inspired!!  I always am at what the amazing designers at MFT cook up each week!!  Come play along and check out all of the inspiration here!

Till next week!

April Bombshell Sketch Challenge

Oh how I loveeeeeeeee a sketch!!  They make it so easy to play and really have fun with your stamps, papers and embellishments as it takes a lot of the "fiddling" out of the mix of trying to decide where to put things.  To me it's like a puzzle...simply fit your pieces in and go!

Here is my take on this month's sketch:

I've made this sparkly beauty for a dear friend and neighbor of mine who is ALWAYS giving my daughter beautiful clothes handed down from her sweetie who is a few years older than mine.  I've used three Bombshell stamp sets in my card.  Butterfly Dreams, Banner Sayings and Bombshell Patterns.  I, of course, had to add a bubbly and fluttery strip of bling and some MFT twine (so my new favorite!).  Everything is colored with my Copics and glittered up using my Quickie Glue Pen.
My interior is created by using my scraps, Spellbinder Nesties, DP from Tiddly Inks and another fun strip of bling!
I do hope you come play with us over at the Bombshell Forum!

Tiddly Inks - Fabulous Inky Friday

And we breathe a collective sigh of relief that it's FRIDAY!!  Which means another Fabulous Inky Friday is upon us!  I needed a girlie birthday card for one of my daughter's friends this weekend.  She is having a gymnastics party so I, of course, immediately went to Georgia The Gymnast for this creation.  Isn't she darling??

I printed her twice, (well in all honesty, I printed her 4 times!!) once on white cardstock and then on green, pink and polka dotted paper.  I couldn't decide which I wanted to use!!  In the end I ended up going with pink.  I colored Georgia in with my Copics and then paper piece her.
I layered, scalloped and stitched SU! cardstock and MFT papers.  On the hot pink and chocolate brown cardstock behind Georgia, I've stamped music notes using Versamark Ink.  I added a flourish of pink bling behind her that I ended up using SU! fine Supernova glitter to extend the sparkly look from her hands.
(interior)
I hope you enjoy and have a very creative day!!!

Don't forget to come and play with us at the Challenge Blog!!  We have our fabulous weekly challenge going on now with an added bonus twist that you won't want to miss!

MFT Wednesday Stamp Club

Hello All!!  Yes, I'm hooked...(Thanks Jo! ;)  I've been hooked for a while to MFT's PI line and I'm now completely falling in love with all of their stamps, accessories, etc etc!!  Better than some other habits I could pick up I suppose!! LOL!

I'm playing along this week with MFT's Wednesday Stamp Club.  Here's the awesome sketch for this week!

I love sketches as they are SUCH a great jumping point.  It definitely takes some of the work out of the process allowing you to get really fun with your papers, ribbons, accessories etc.

Today I used the ever so cute Pure Innocence - My Umbrella.  I colored her with my Copics and paper pieced her umbrella.  I paired her with SU! cardstock and Basic Grey paper.  I used PTI Twill Tape and PS Linen Twine.  I used heart brads and a self adhesive chipboard sticker for my accents.

I had so much fun playing along!!  Can't wait for next week!

Baby Bud Design - Challenge #6 - Flowers

Today I had a bit of time to simply 'play'.  (yay me!)  I finally had the time to pull out this super cute Baby Bud design - Baby Belle.  You can find all of the super sweet Baby Bud Images here

The theme this week is 'flowers'.  So I used Baby Belle and my new Leaf Spellbinders Nesties to create a large flower around her with the bright orange ruffled ribbon that I made using seam binding.  I cannot take credit for this awesome technique.  You can find it here on SCS!!  (thanks Cindy!)

Printed Belle twice.  Both times on white stock.  I colored her with Copics in one and trimmed just her cute flowery head out.  I then cut the other using my leaf nestie and while keeping the die still on the now cut image, sponged the entire leave - except the border which was still covered by the die with Tim Holtz - Antique Linen and Peeling Paint.  I then did just a tiny bit of coloring with my Pale Olive Copic marker on her leaves and various stems.

My card base is light olive green, followed by kraft, followed by the SU! birdies.  My double circles - also cut with my Circle nesties are both Crate Paper (orange) and PTI (polka dots).  I did some funky stitching on my background and added a blue rhinestone flourish.  My sentiment is from an old SU! set - A Little Birdie Told Me.
The interior of my card was kept simple and crisp. I used the same PTI polka dots, a kraft circle and more Crate Paper for the inner orange circle.  The sentiment is also from the same SU! set.

I hope you come see the cuteness over at Baby Bud!!

I also hope you've been inspired to create something beautiful today!!

Tiddly Tuesday! Challenge #45 - Bunny Hop With Me

Good Tiddly Tuesday!!!!  I'm here with you today to bring you a SUPER cute new image from Tiddly Inks - Minnie's Egg.  Isn't she ADORABLE???  I love her specs and super sweet pigtails!! There is also another ridiculously scrumptious springtime Minnie image here!

I printed Minnie twice, once on white and once on Bo Bunny DP.  As you can see I've paper pieced her eggs.  Both the large one she is holding as well as the teeny tiny ones on the ground near her.  I then colored the rest of the image in with my Copics.

I trimmed her out using my new Nesties circles.  I layered and stitched all sorts of springy and pastel colored scraps that I had on my workspace.  I used tiny rhinestone bling strips for my corners, bright turquoise hem tape - similar to seam binding but it's thicker, matte in color and folds open to give you a fluffy and poofy bow.  The bakers twine and sentiment is from MFT.

As I'm SURE you've seen, there is a super cool twist to this week (or I should say the next two weeks) challenge over at the Challenge Blog!  Tiddly Inks is hosting a "Refer-A-Friend" Challenge.  The details are all at the Challenge Blog.  You'll definitely want to grab a friend...get crafty and come to the Challenge Blog to see what's goin' on!!  You and your friend could win a never before released BRAND NEW Tiddly Inks Image!!!

So exciting!!  I do hope you come and play along!!  See you over there!!
