Greetings Friends!! Posting today bringing you my interpretation of this week's MFT sketch challenge. I know I've said it before but over the years of enjoying, learning and sharing this amazingly fun craft I've found that time and time again sketches are just such a fantastic point at which to jump from when you are feeling low on mojo and/or time. The sketches and samples that the designers at MFT post weekly are classic, imaginative and always easy to follow. Every week there is a sweet prize to win as well as lots of fun inspiration to oooh and aahh over!
I inked her with Momento and colored her with my Copics. I paper pieced her hat, dress, vest, shoes and arms.
I dug deep into my scrap bins to pull out some fun purple designer papers to pair them with some of my favorite Bazzil colors in Bling (yellow), Mermaid (turquoise) and Classic Purple. I layered and stitched and went a little rogue by adding a few extra Rolled Rose Die-namics Flowers with designer paper and felt. I anchored two of the Country Charms Die-namics tied to the felt flower with rustic twine.
I recently acquired an awesome selection of resin flowers in all colors and sizes and they just needed to adorn the center of my flowers. I use hot glue to hold them all together and to attach them to the card to make sure they simply don't move.
I finished everything off adding a Photo Corner Die-namics to my main image to trim down the expanse of white space that was showing and I used my Oval Tab Die-namics to house my sentiment. I chose to round my sentiment to mimic the shape of the oval tab so that left me with a bit of extra space showing directly under the sentiment. To add a bit "more" to this area, I trimmed out a second Oval Tab using the yellow designer paper from Recollections, and I simply trimmed off the oval part leaving a simple strip that I adhered and then stitched to the sentiment tab. I love how it came out, simple and bold.
My daughter has recently started riding lessons and is totally enamored of the entire world of Equestrians. I am going to be tucking this into her lunch box tomorrow! Thanks for popping in today!!
Are you excited?!!? You should be! Today's the day!! Release Day!! WOO HOO!! I first and foremost want to extend a huge thank you to Kim, Jody, Joanne, the entire MFT Design Team and all of their amazing fans and customers for all of the amazingly kind, encouraging and sweet comments that were left during my Guest Designership. I am blown away by the kindness you have all extended me. (smile!)
Today is the day where we take an in-depth look at the amazing new MFT Die-namics that are being released tonight. It was SO hard deciding which of the amazing dies to work with but in the end I went with the one set of Die-namics that I had yet to work with during this release and those are the Country Charms. They coordinate SO fabulously well with the new Pure Innocence Cowboy and Cowgirl but I decided to feature them on their own and I have made a funky necklace for my darling daughter.
Here is what I did before I created the video. I took out an entire sheet of 8-1/2 x 11 shrink plastic and sanded both sides. I then cut my charms using my Sizzix.
I then gathered buttons, rustic twine and ribbon.

After all of my charms had been created, I pulled together some rustic twine, buttons, and ribbon. I created a knot on either side of each button to hold it in place, then I would thread four charms in a row, each tied with a knot and then another button. After I finished the initial threading, I went back in and added a few extra charms and buttons tied on with fun ribbon. I've taken quite a few pictures to give you the detail all around this sweet necklace.
Here is a quick picture giving you an idea of the proportions with the shrink plastic.
And when my daughter came home I gave her the necklace that I made for her and she instantly wanted to wear it. And it happened to match perfectly with the shirt she is wearing today.
Oh she just LOVED it!! Which makes this Mama very happy =)
