Hello Everyone!! I'm so excited to be here with you today to show off another fabulous Tiddly Inks challenge and Christy Croll image!!
The theme of this week's challenge is "our pets". We have a gorgeous dog, Katie but I decided to veer from the dog route as that was an obvious one for me and go with something out of the box so to speak as far as pets go in my house.
My daughter has been asking daily for either a frog or a turtle. She's into the amphibious and reptilians right now and is rather relentless. She also knows that her 6th birthday is coming up so she's trying to work that angle. Between my two children, darling husband, dog and house I have enough to care for presently. = ) So with all of that said I went with one of Christy's new images Donna and themed it around my darling daughter's wish for one of these creatures.
I started with Donna. I printed her out twice. Once on white stock and once on the strawberry paper. I then trimmed out the umbrella top and paper pieced it.
I then used my Copic and Prismacolor markers to color in Donna and her tiny green friend. I then trimmed her out and set her aside.
I purposefully kept the background relatively simple using PTI cardstock as my base followed by a similar colored striped DP from the same mat stack that the strawberry paper came from. (DCWV I think)
I added my sentiment using a whimsical alphabet sticker pack that I just recently picked up.
I layered that down and trimmed out a few strawberries placing them haphazardly here and there. I found a home for Donna and adhered her down. I then used Diamond Glaze and shined up her rubber Wellies!!
As a final touch on the exterior, I added clear pearls to look like rain drops all over the card front.
The inside is the answer to the sentiment of "Pretty Please". The ? is my answer. LOL! I will probably give in someday...but...maybe not this year. Lastly, I added a strip of blue velvet ribbon to the inside to provide a touch of softness.
I hope you enjoy and can come play over at TI!!
Crafty Hugs!
Meredith
