Mo's Digital Challenge #27 - Sketch Challenge

Yes, I'll admit it...I'm a Mo's Addict!! Her work is GORGEOUS and speaks to me and reminds me of my and my friends children every time I look at her work!! My darling friend Kristyn is my enabler as well (well...truthfully we're CO-enablers) but that's neither here nor there!!

I'm loving the challenges and look VERY forward to them every week!! Here's the sketch we were given to work with this week:I've been dying to work with this image that reminds me of my delicious, cookie smelling son. Even when he's grungy he just smells sweet to me. I smooch him and mug on him every chance that I get because soon enough he's not going to want me to be doing that anymore so I love on him always!! (and my DD as well...she's just scrumptious!!)

So I chose the image of Ben watering his sprout. My son LOVES gardening with us and takes great satisfaction in helping as all children his age do. My kids are my best helpers...always!!

Ben is colored with my Copics (I've been practicing my shading as you can see!) Everything else was scrap that was laying around on my table. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!!! That's the motto this month!!

QKD Color Inspiration Week!!

Hey...

I'm here with you for another awesome QKD hop!! This week we're working with a color challenge using blue, brown and white!

But before I show you my creation for the day, you should have traveled here via the WIS blog and if not I want to remind you that you MUST start HERE in order to see all of this great team's hard and STUNNING work!!!

I rummaged through my scrap drawer and pulled out a variety of papers from my assigned color palette. I then picked my image. I went with Punk Boy designed by the every so talented and amasing Che Gibson.
I stamped him on PTI white cardstock whose edges I'd distresses and proceeded to have THE BEST time coloring him in. Everything is colored with my Copic markers and all of his hardware is colored with my silver gel pen.

I matted him to a dark navy cardstock adding 3 grungy black MM staples to the bottom corner. I matted that panel to a scrap of Basic Grey DP whose edges I'd also distressed.

I then chose SU! creamy caramel cardstock as my base. I used last month's Get Inked kit for the Fleur du Lis and iron gate stamp. I inked these up in Versamagic Night Sky and heat embossed. You'll notice that the iron gate is stamped on a piece of scrap border below.

The last touch is some edgy stitching with white thread from my sewing machine.

QKD Spring Crop - Challenge #2

Hi Everyone!!! Just popping in to say hello on this Marathon Holiday here in Massachusetts!!! I'm here to show you a card that I made over the weekend while playing along with the QKD Spring Crop!! This was for the second challenge. I used this month's Get Inked kit using the gorgeous pom pom style flower and sentiment "if friends were flowers I'd pick you!" I used a palette of blues and purples with lots of pieces of scrap from my endless scrap drawer.

I also experimented with the 2 different embossing powders - a gorgeous violet, and another purple one that puffs up when you heat it!! AWESOME!! I used regular stitching from my machine and some faux stitching using my white Souffle pen.
I love creating just for creating sake!!! It's always SO relaxing!!

QKD Spring Crop - Sketch Challenge

Hey All!

This weekend (and still ONGOING!) is a QKD crop over at our forum!! The challenges are super fun and are really great in getting some crafty mojo flowing!!

Here is challenge #1 and the sketch to go along with it!


I used the AMAZING Breaking Free set in this design. (which is on sale right now!!) I JUST received it in the mail the other day and could not WAIT to ink it up!!
As you can see I followed the sketch just about to at "T". ;) I used a free font finder on-line to type out the word "Free" and print it out. The font was an Alice in Wonderland style font. I love how it printed!!
I stamped the "web" in SU! Real Red ink and the butterfly in Colorbox Green Craft ink, heat embossed it and trimmed it out. It is popped up on 3-D foam adhesive.


Most of the paper were from my scrap drawer! Which is always a great way to recycle while you create something new!

As Janet Says...

Hey All!! Welcome to another awesome Saturday here at the DIS!! I'm so glad you're here with me today!!

I busted this beauty last night after I received my GIANT stash of new stamps from The Queen!! I placed an order and could not WAIT for them to show up!! So THRILLED that they did so fast!! I've been JONESING to work with the Bodice and Barb Wire stamp!!!

My iPod shuffle was on when I was making this so I ran with the song lyrics that were playing as I was creating. I was inspired by one of my all time favorites...Janet...so I went with a psuedo-dark/romantic black and red theme with the lyric "that's the way love goes" - printed out in MS Word.

My background is simple red cardstock cut at 5.5 square. I then used the cover of an old sewing booklet that I heavily distressed and stitched all over the place using black and red thread. I stamped the Bodice in SU! Real Red ink on PTI white cardstock. I simply used my silver gel pen to add slight accents to the form as I really wanted it to stand on it's own. It's such a gorgeous stamp. I then matted it with another piece of the cover of the old booklet and then again with the red cardstock. I stitched it randomly twice and then ran my black ink pad over it to goth it up a little bit.
I then stamped the Barb Wire using my Essential Glue pad and coated it a few times in black Doodlebug glitter. I then matted that with the same red cardstock and added it to my card using 3-D foam adhesive.
My sentiment is printed in MS Word after I found this cool "Lewis Carroll" font free online. I matted that with yet another scrap of the sewing booklet cover and added it to the already dimentionalized Barb Wire Coil with more 3-D adhesive.

Honestly...I LOVE how it came out. And it's true sometimes "That's The Way Love Goes..."

Bombshell - Baby Got Back Challenge!

Happy Friday Everyone!!! Thanks for popping by today!! I have a super fabulous challenge creation to show you thanks to the fabulous Cheryl over at Bombshell Stamps!! Cheryl challenged us to create without using DESIGNER PAPER! GASP!! We were to make our OWN "Designer Paper". Hence...the title of the challenge BABY GOT BACK! (hehe) Where's Sir Mix-a-Lot when you need him!! ;)

I used the Butterfly Queen and Bombshell Angel sets to create this card. My card base is a hot orange cardstock. My background aka homemade designer paper is stamped with both the Lil' Angel and Lil' Devil stamps from the Bombshell Angel set.

I stamped the butterflies and colored them in in my color scheme of orange and purple. I carefully trimmed them out and adhered them with foam adhesive.
I then used my apron punch to cut 3 pieces one each of orange, white and purple as a border edge and stitched them together and adhered them to the right edge of my card.

The ever so gorgeous Butterfly Queen is colored with my Copics, Souffle pens and Sakura sparkly gel pens. She's stamped on PTI white cardstock and matted on purple cardstock from The Paper Source.

Before I adhered my main panel down I made a loopy bow using PTI perfect match ribbon around the bottom of the card with the bow on the left hand side for some nice balance with the butterflies.

Smeared Ink - Fairy Love

Hey Lovelies out there in Blogland!! I'm bringing you one of my new favorite creations for the Smeared and Smudged Ink forum. This one is specific to the Fairy Fantasy group. Which is a gorgeous group!! You must check it out!

The image I used is from The Character Cafe. It's one of my all time favorites!

My card base is PTI cardstock in Smokey Shadow. The second layer is Core Color paper. The cool thing is that depending on how you tear the paper will depend on which color shows...I tore it forward so that the purple really popped!
My fairy is painted with water colors (the blue), her hair/skin/wand is colored with Copics, and her wing is glittered up in black with Doodlebug black glitter. Her eyes are done in colored pencils. The pattern around her is done with a piece of Jute fabric dipped in the extra blue paint and just splotted around.

I stitched the main layer to a piece of Elegant Eggplant SU! cardstock and corner edged the top right and bottom two corners.

My sentiment Love The Dark... is done in glitter letter stickers from MM. It's true..I do love the dark...

Hi Everyone!! I'm playing along again this week with Sketchy Thursdays Challenge!! I LOVE this site as it's really pushing my creativity to a different level!! Below is this week's sketch:
Super cool, right? And here's my interpretation!!! We were invited to my Cousin's Bas Mitzvah in February and the night party was SOMETHING to be seen!! So fun and super fabulous. In this picture my son has just finished break dancing with the professional dancers that were there (they were AMAZING) and he's concentrating SO hard on how to do the "Peace Out" sign!! I love how he's staring at their fingers, with his tongue sticking out focusing so hard on how to do it right! LOL! He kills me...he's just so funny.
I've been dying to do something with this picture and this was the perfect opportunity! Thank you Green Horned Unicorn for hosting this week!!! Fingers crossed cause I'd love to win those delicious crafting goodies!!!

QKD New Release Tuesday Hop!!!! Victory is Mine!!!

Happy Tuesday Everyone!!! I've got to tell you I'm SOOOOOOOOO excited about all of this fantabulousness newness that's been released at The Castle!!!

Here is the delicious sketch we were given to work with today:
This week I was inspired to create a piece in lieu of a card. I flipped the image 90 degrees and ran with it.

I have this amazing cardstock that my brother found for me a long time ago and it was PERFECT for what I had envisioned for this project.

I stamped the seriously, hardcore, delicious and gorgeous Sadie's Victory three times over. Once very light, the second one a little darker and the third one regularly. I heat set them all and then colored them with my Copics.

My first image I kept relatively light, a little ghostly. The second one I envisioned her gaining more strength and the third one she's fully colored and ready for battle!
The background paper that I used to mount my images to is vintage paper from an old plumbers repair book from the 30's. I found it in an antique shop in Maine last year and I use it sparingly because I love it so!
I used my Cricut to cut the circles out in light purple background paper and the pretty baroque-esque darker paper. I printed the words Truth, Beauty and Love in MS Word and trimmed them out with my oval scalloped punch.

The star is from the Party Like A Rockstar set. I stamped it, colored it and then glittered it up. Each star has a little more glitter than the one before.
The words FIND YOUR STRENGTH are MM Velvet Letters. I adhered them on and then stitched them many times with a funky, wavy stitch.

I had so much fun working with this image and sketch!!! Now off you go hopping to the amazing Anita's blog for some seriously cool inspiration!!!

The Greeting Farm - Punked Out Ebony!

Hey All!! Happy Happy Monday!!! I'm here today to show you my very first creation for The Greeting Farm Club Anya and Friends Caz's punk challenge!!

I used Ebony and really had a blast getting her all punked out!!
I stamped her in Versamark Boysenberry ink and heat set her with clear embossing powder. She is colored with my Copic markers and embellished with rhinestones for the eyes on her skully tshirt, with silver beads for her eyes.

The sentiment "Girl...Not Interested" is as follows - the 'girl' is a MM rub on and the tag 'not interested' is from a box of wine charms I purchased eons ago!!! I adhered the tag with a philips head screw brad.

Her headband is glued up with my Quickie Glue Pen and then glittered up with my purple Doodlebug glitter. My main image with Ebony is lifted up on 3D pop dots and embellished with a large safety pin wrapped in purple ball chain.

As you can see I used my sewing machine to embellish both layers with funky stitches. I've edge distressed most of the layers to give it an added grungey look.

Not For The Timid

Good Morning Y'all!!! Now...if it's early for you...be forwarned...this is NOT FOR THE TIMID ;) Here's another card that I've created for our awesome team at Smeared Ink!!
I've used the Carnies set - using the fantastically detailed Mermaid image. I started with an envelope from The Paper Source that has a little half moon cut out at the top. The texture of the paper is kind of a creamy, shimmery ivory. I stamped my first stamp "Freak Show" on the front...warning the reader of what's inside!! ;) It is stamped in VersaMagic Night Sky and heat set.
I did a postcard style card for this. My first layer is a scrap of DP that I had leftover from a retired SU! set. My next layer is Kraft cardstock followed by Navy blue cardstock. All seriously edge distressed and stitched together with a funky stitch that reminds me of the heart monitoring machine. Beep, beep, beep...beeeeeepppppp...you get my drift ;) (remember...this is a dark creation here people!)
I then took a piece of PTI white cardstock weighing in at 110 lbs. You need this weight paper to do what I was about to do. I took my Archival Multi-surface chalk VersaMagic Ink pad in Night sky and smooshed it all around...heavily. Everything was VERY inky. I then used my Melt Art Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel in clear and coated everything TWICE. I then heat set it and watched the melty goodness display before me!!! So cool!!!
I then stamped my Carny Mermaid. I carefully colored her with my Copic markers and glittered up her tail with Doodlebug Sugar Coating Blue Jean Glitter. I made a band with the NOT FOR THE TIMID stamp that goes along with the set on Kraft cardstock and wrapped it around the main layer.
The back was so pretty and useful that I couldn't NOT embellish a bit!! I used a cool strip of DP that I had laying around for the bottom and used another stamp from the Carnies set "Friends Forever" punched out and matted with the next size circle punch.

Mo's Digital Challenge #26 - Black, White, Kraft

Hi All!!

Just popping in with another awesome challenge from Peggy over at Mo's Digital Pencil!! This week's challenge was to create with Black, White, Kraft and any other color. I chose to stick pretty true to the challenge and only accented with a TEENY bit of light green.


Dancing with Grandpa is one of my favorite of Mo's images. I've colored the image with my Copics. Everything is in black, white and gray with the little girls shoes and hair adornment with a tiny bit of green added.

I matted my image with Kraft cardstock. I then added a buttony bow with black twill, a black button with white linen thread. I then matted that all to a beautiful piece of black and white Basic Grey paper.

As a couple of last little touches I trimmed the little girls dress with black Doodlebug glitter and added black rub ons with a couple of sentiments and beautiful flowers and butterflies.
