Today I've done a combo creation.  Both for today as well as for the December Layout Sketch Challenge as posted on the S&S Forum!

Here's the sketch I followed:

I flipped it once to the right and started creating.  I decided not to use photos but stamped images for this piece.  I'm giving it to a girlfriend today as a little nifty gifty to cheer her up!

This is an 8X8 size layout.  I used the SI 'Lil' Grumpies' set to bust out this creation.  I stamped and colored the grumpies, keeping them all relatively in the same color family.

As you can see, I had loads of fun coloring up these cuties with my Copics and Prismacolor markers.  They are matted on all different kinds of scraps that I had lying around and edge stitched with my sewing machine.

I used my Love, Elsie bubble stickers as my embellishments on the top.

Along with teeny, tiny felt dots for my embellies on the bottom.

Ya, that shiny paper is a scrap of wallpaper that I received in an amazing pack from GA!!

I had a blast with this layout and can't wait to start working on my card for the December challenge!!

Don't forget to hit all of the hoppers above!!  Pure gorgeousness to be seen!!!
Layout Details:
Cardstock: G45 - Steampunk Debutante, The Paper Source Cardstock - Orange,PTI - white cardstock, Wallpaper - GA
Stamps: Smeared Ink
Ink: Momento - Tuxedo Black
Embellishments: Love, Elsie stickers and felt dots
Techniques: Border stitching on my sewing machine

Tiddly Inks Challenge #32 - Let It Snow!

Hello Everyone!!  Happy Tuesday!!  I'm thrilled to bring you our 32nd challenge today!!!  SNOW!! I wanted to go truly traditional in my creation today so I chose to work with Christy's adorable Snowman Sid!
 Isn't he the cutest???

I started out by coloring Snowman Sid in with my Copic and Prismacolor markers.  He is then trimmed out and coated in MS glitter.  I added the black buttons threaded with twine on after his glitter treatment dried.

My cardstock measures 6" x 8" which was then scored and folded.  I cut my two layering pieces, the red and the red polka dotted papers.  They are both edge distressed with white craft ink.  I stitched these two layers together with ivory thread, using a border stitch on my sewing machine.

I used a basic white office supply store tag upon which I stamped a star from SU! in red craft ink and heat embossed it.  I removed the plain white thread that the tag came with and added a scrap of vintage linen and tucked behind my tag is a piece of vintage wool both came from my local antique store.

A finishing touch on the right hand side are the felt stickers from MS.

What a year it has been for the fabulous Tiddly Inks!!!  I am so excited and VERY MUCH looking forward to a FANTASTIC New Year and a wonderful 2011 with Christy and my fellow unbelievable Design Team members!!

Please remember to check out the entire DT's work and please play along here!!

I hope you have enjoyed and been inspired!!

Bombshell Monthly Sketch Challenge - December 2010

Hey Y'all...Ms. September here!!  It's been TOO long since I've posted using one of the always gorgeous Bombshell gals!!  Oh how I've missed them!!!
Today I'm using a new digi set "Western Gal".  And Kathi has come up with yet another BRILLIANT sketch for us gals to follow!!!  I first colored this gorgeous lady with my Copic and Prismacolor markers.  I trimmed her out and set her aside.

I started with SU!s Mellow Moss as my card base.  I used my Log Cabin Smooch Spritz to grunge up the edges which I set aside to dry.

My next layer is gorgeous DP from My Mind's Eye - Alphabet Soup line.  On top of that I used a teal cardstock from Bazzil upon which I stamped sheriff stars (SU!) in Tim Holtz Tea Dye ink.

Sitting on top of those 2 layers I placed my chocolate brown scallop edging and atop that a strip of wool that I purchased in a ball at my local antique store.  I lightly adhered those together and took them to my sewing machine.  I used the widest zig zag stitch and went around the 3 edges of the paper and the bottom edge of the wool.
I then added a strip of light tan cardstock that I coated in the same tea dye ink and added a sticker for my sentiment that says 'sugar-n-spice'.  That's what this sassy gal is!!

I took my white gel pen and added a few accents here and there to make her pop.  I added her to my card using 3-D foam adhesive.

I love this sketch and am so happy with the way my card turned out!!

I hope you enjoy and have been inspired!!  Please come play along with us at the Bombshell Forum!!

Simply Betty Stamps - On The Eighth Day Of Christmas...

Now... many of us wait until the 25th for Santa Clause to come to town... but today SANDY CLAWS is coming instead! Or well he has actually arrived! All you have to do is create your version of Sandy Claws on your projects! You will win two very special digis... these digis are going to be exclusive to the DT, a few winners, and as a free set in the future with your purchase at SBS! So, you won't want to miss this challenge! You do not have to purchase a new SBS image, just get those creative gears turning and create your Sandy Claws project with any SBS image! Good luck you have until Dec. 11th at 11:00PM PST to load your projects on the SBSC blog!!!
This fabulous image above was created by our own SUPERBLY talented Miss Darling Cheri!!  Can you stand it??  I had SO much fun playing with this digi!!!

I started with a shimmery, light green heavyweight card stock.  I chose my complimentary DP and then set to coloring my image.  I colored with my Copics and Prismacolor markers.  I then outlined him to make him pop, distressed all around him with Brilliance Gold and Tim Holtz Tea Dye inks.  I coated his beard, hat, and cuffs with my quickie glue pen and coated him with Martha Stewart crystally, clear glitter.
Sandy Claws' bag is stamped with a sentiment 'here's the deal' from Smeared Ink.  The adorning tag is stamped with the sentiment 'just bee you' from PTI's Honey Bee Sentiments.  As you can see I also distressed the tag and added twine to the top.  The tag can be popped out and actually used...which is nice and the small scrap of chocolate brown ribbon just made the card.

I hope you enjoy and have been inspired!!  Please come play along!!!

Double Duty Card!!

I'm here today with a card for two different challenges!!!  I felt like doing something 'just for fun' today.  Not that my normal creating isn't ALWAYS fun but sometimes it's nice to bounce outside of your parameters, assignments, challenges, etc and just play.

So I am here to bring you my card for both the most recent OTWC #36 AND the most recent Stretch N Bubbles challenges.

For OTWC we were issued a color challenge:

And for SNB we were issued a challenge to use this image:

And here is my creation!!

As you can see...the only deviation from the OTWC is the blue, felt 'e'.  I did not have another tan 'e'...so...I improvised.  =)

My card base is a light cocoa color, followed by a really light tan stock that I coated in white Brilliance ink, heat embossed and stitched around the edges.

I then colored the SNB swirly tree...SO FUN!  I love that it's a tad abstract.  I also edged distressed with gold Brilliance craft ink and zig zag stitched the main image to it's chocolate brown counterpart.

I recently picked up a 'rag ball' at my local antique store and it just so happens that the colors were PERFECT!!  I snipped a length off, tied it in a knot, cut the edges into neat little 'v's' and then adorned with my chocolate brown shimmery, rhinestones as I also did with the tree.
Thank you Kim at OTWC and all the Creative Chicks at SNB for these amazing challenges!!

I hope you enjoy and have been inspired!!

Here's my project for today!

I've been dying to work with this Stretch N Bubbles image for quite some time now and I've been finding myself recently wishing for storms here in the Northeast.  Wintery, blustery, wet and mucky, hunker down and cuddle up kind of storms!

So with that as my muse here is what I did:

I colored her in with my Prismacolor and Copic markers.  I wanted to keep this simple but stylish so I went with psuedo-Burberry colors.  I

I only added a few bubbly stickers at the bottom for a little holiday cheer and voila!

Thanks for leaving love!!!  Please make sure that you do the same for my fellow Jolly Hoppers!!

Here is my project for today!!

I'm giving this explosion box as a gift and decided to leave it rather raw and let my crafty friend add to it.  Inside the box, I've added lots of goodies!!  Ribbon, fiber, tags, and pre-colored Lil' Grumpies punch outs!!

I had the best time making this box.  They are completely my new favorite!!  The top is a fabric flower to compliment the exterior colors and to bring out the red in the holiday season.
I hope you have enjoyed and been inspired!  Please leave lots and lots of super love on my fellow Jolly Bloggers sites!!!

Tiddly Inks Challenge #31 - Sing...Sing A Song!!

Good Morning Everyone!!!  Today we're FA LA LA LA LAing our way through the month of December!!  This week's challenge is to make a creation using one of your very favorite holiday songs!!!  The first one the came to my mind was Walking In A Winter Wonderland.

I chose to use the following images:

I wanted to keep my card in MOSTLY monochromatic white tones.  And that's HARD!!!  LOL!  I kept red/pink as my only color added on the princesses bow and as a background to make the harmony music bar pop.

I started by coloring and glittering up my princess and set her aside to dry.  Same with the banner and the harmony bar.  I pulled a couple of pieces of quiet DP from my new 360 sheet stack from K&CO (love it!) and did an entire border of snowflakes on my sewing machine.

I then used my Cricut to cut the snowflake out of Crate Paper DP - the back side of whatever particular DP it was.

I used my darling friend Joanne's ruffly ribbon tutorial found on my sidebar to create the beautiful, shimmery ribbon on the bottom of my card.

I the layers and the border with my glue stick (works SO well and is so much cheaper than tape runners!!! - I found this out when I ran out and was in a pinch)  I then added the snowflake and princess with 3-D foam and the ruffly ribbon is held on with Scotch tape in the inside of the back cover while my Beacon Adhesive dries underneath the ruffles and then I will remove the tape and trim the edges.
I truly hope you've enjoyed and been inspired!!!  Please leave LOTS of love for my fellow Design Team gals as they've done a GORGEOUS job as always!!
