Bombshell Sketch - August

 

Greetings Gorgeous Bombshells!!  I'm here today bringing you my interpretation of the Bombshell August Sketch Challenge.  As always we'd LOVE for you to come and play along.  All of the information can be found HERE. 

My creation uses a beautiful set called Mermaid Treasure.  I just LOVE the sentiments that it comes with and the gorgeous Bombshell Mermaid is just GORGEOUS!! 

I started with my mermaid.  I colored her with my Copics and Prisma markers.  I then trimmed her out and glazed up her tail.  I set it aside to dry overnight. 

I then worked on my panels.  I stamped them using Versamark ink, then coated in copper colored embossing powder and heat set.  I backed them with white cardstock and stitched together.  I used Jody Boosters as my dimensionals (theyre AWESOMELY STICKY!) 

I added some fun summer colored papers, lots of stitching and dimension to make this card just pop!  I hope you have enjoyed my creation and have been inspired!!

Tiddly Inks Challenge #61 - Thank You Teacher

Happy Tiddly Tuesday!!!  Can you BELIEVE that we're already well into August??  I can't!  My DD heads back to school at the end of the month so we've been in full swing getting markers, crayons, a new backpack, lunchbox, pencil case, primary notebooks, etc!  SO FUN!  To me, back to school might be better than Christmas and Hanukkah combined!!!  (I know, I know!!)  There's just something SCRUMPTIOUS about new notebooks, crisp, sharp #2 pencils, a new box of pens....etc.  So this week's Tiddly Challenge was super fabulously fun for me to create!!  Our challenge is to create a Thank You card for a teacher! 

I've used one of my favorite Tiddly Sentiments found HERE.  This Teacher and Kid's sentiment pack is only $1.00 and it comes with so many fabulous sentiments!!  You'll want to grab it up for sure!!  As you can see, I printed my sentiment out on really high quality cardstock and used my Spellbinders Nesties to cut it out.  I backed it with Ouchless Cardboard from Gauche Alchemy - the stuff is FANTASTIC!.  I used my chalkboard alphabet paper in the background, distressed of course to make the letters pop.  My cardbase is SU! as are the green tag paper and the light blue bracket. (both are cut from new MFT Die-namics).  I used my tape measure ribbon (love that stuff), a small crystal flourish and a tiny binder clip as my embellis. 

For the interior, I've used the apple image that comes with the above mentioned sentiment pack.  I printed, colored, coated with my Versamark pen and then heat embossed.  I punched it out and matted it with a pretty red scallop circle.  I also used my SU! corner punch to finish of the interior.

Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge - Distressing

Hey Crafty Friends!  Today I'm playing along with Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge #90 - Distressing.  You can come play along with the challenge here on the KK blog! 

I've chosen Eleanor as my gorgeous KK gal to create with today.  I inked Eleanor up with black Momento ink and stamped her once onto a MFT perfect panel, again onto my orange Swiss Dot cardstock and then a third time onto my blue SU! DP.  I trimmed out her dress and distressed it with a nail file so that the dots would stand out.
I then trimmed out the stripes in her dress out of the blue DP and adhered them on.  I also trimmed out her bathing cap from the orange DP and distressed that as well.  I stamped her flowers onto a piece of white cardstock, colored them with my Copics and paper pieced them onto her bathing cap.

Before piecing her outfit together, I colored her in with my Copics.  I added a touch of makeup on her beautiful eyes and added a tiny silver stud for earrings. 

For my papers, I've used SU! cardstock and Flair Designs DP.  All edges have been distressed with my Tim Holtz edge distressing tool, roughed up further with a nail file, crumpled in my hands and then sponged with orange acrylic paint. 

As another "distressing" touch I added real play sand beneath Eleanor's feet and in her beach pail.  I had play sand available from my children's table top sandboxes on hand which was adhered using my Quickie Glue Pen.  It feels super cool in real life!!  I took a very close photo with a macro lens so you could get the "picture".  (LOL!)

I used a couple of my favorite MFT Die-Namics Dies - the doily and my new bracket tab.  The sentiment Smooth Sailing is also from MFT.  

I had SO much fun creating and can't wait to play along in the next KK challenge!!  Till then!!

MFT - Wednesday Stamp Club

Happy Saturday!!!  I've created a very special card today for a friend in our lives who needs lots of extra love and encouragement.  And I used this week's MFT sketch as my muse.

I used papers from SU!, Basic Grey, and G45.  I used my Swiss Dot embossing folder for my vertical panels, and also distressed with Brown Momento ink.  I used my new MFT Die-Namics Fancy Flourish and Bracket Tab in addition to my new MFT - All Smiles stamp set.   

I'm playing around using the new double bow that I'm seeing everywhere.  It's SO fun and puffy!!  Makes a great elegant statement.

 

I decorated the exterior and interior with a few Martha Stewart self adhesive pearls as an added touch.

Bombshell Tutorial - Perpetual Calendar

Hey my gorgeous Bombshell Ladies!!!  I'm here with you on this glorious Friday to teach you how to create a Perpetual Calendar.  It's FANTASTIC for birthdays as well as anniversaries of all kind!  I first and foremost want to thank Nichole Heady from PTI for this idea.  I cannot take credit.  She is the genius behind this masterpiece template.  I simply slightly altered it from it's original form to make it my own.  So many thanks to Nichole!!!

I have made this many times and given it as a great birthday, hostess, housewarming or "no reason" gift!  It has always been well received and used lovingly!

So without further ado...let's get started!!

You will need twelve sheets of really great white (or other light colored) cardstock that can make its way through your printer.  This is to print out your calendar template.  Test the paper first.  You don't want to waste paper!  I intensely dislike when I try to put really high quality through to print and it shreds or gets stuck, major bummer!

You will also need 12 pieces of solid cardstock, 12 pieces (or more) of designer paper, a medium sized single 3-ring and of course, your Bombshell Stamps.  As you'll see in my project, I used a very "mixey matchy" bunch of cardstock.  I've been trying to be VERY good about using my scrap.  I have a lot...no seriously A LOT!  Easily six to eight BOXES of scrap...large storage boxes full.  So I raided one of them and easily found lots of fun paper to use!!

After printing and finding my cardstock, I then started by trimming out all of my months.  There is no exact measurement for this.  I trim on the outside of the lines leaving a tiny bit of white showing as a border.  I cut my cardstock at 9.5" long and 4.25" wide.  And I cut my designer paper at 9.25" long and 4" wide. 

I then adhered my blank calendar page to my designer paper.

Now it's off to the sewing machine!!!

 

Stitching is not necessary at all but if you have the ability to do so it adds SUCH a nice, finishing touch.  Ok, time to decorate!!

I've kept my embellishing SUPER simple as I am loving the papers that I chose and I wanted to keep this very clean and simple (CAS).  For the dates that have birthdays and anniversaries attached I've used Bombshell's Banner Sayings set.  Super versatile and awesomely vintage!  I stamped Happy Birthday on Kraft cardstock in Brilliance pearlescent black ink, coated in clear embossing powder and heat set.  I did the same for the Congratulations on green cardstock so I'd know even before really looking if it was a birthday or anniversary that was coming up.  Also, on each month I've used the flower from Bombshell Angel , stamped in black Momento ink, purposefully left uncolored, punched out and embellished with a self-adhesive pearl in the center.  

Time to put it all together!!!  If you have one, grab your Crop-O-Dile Big Bite, if not a regular hole punch will do just fine.  For those of you who do have a Crop-O-Dile Big Bite, depending on your cardstock, you *may* have to punch these in two batches.  I had to as I used SU! and PTI cardstock for my solid and white and when you add in the DP it was simply too thick to cut through all 12 months.  If you are using a regular hole punch, punch through one month and then use that month as the template in order to line up all of your other months so everything will be straight and even!

You are now ready to add your single 3-ring!  You could absolutely use other elements such as ribbon, twine, cording, etc as your holder.  I like the 3-ring because you can hang it easily, remove pages easily if necessary, etc.

And yes it's really that easy!!!  I chose not to put ribbons on my 3-ring simply for the fact that it does make it a little more difficult to flip each month over.  But that's simply a personal preference.
