Beep, Beep!...Just because...

My best friend Joanne is an extremely talented paper artist. She inspires many, including me. She's very hard working and dedicated. She has been working towards creating a greener household for herself and her family. One of the many things that she and her husband do is try to utilize their Vespa scooter around town to save on gas and pollution. It's great and I applaud their efforts!

I found this vintage sticker with what else...but...a VESPA! and I knew that it had to go to Jo!! I waited to post because I wanted to make sure she received it in the mail before I put it up. I didn't want to spoil the surprise.

I did this as a postcard style so on the back is a piece of PTI white cardstock (if you haven't purchased this yet...you MUST! it's outstanding!)

I was really happy with how this turned out. And Jo did too!! Love you babe!!

I hope that everyone is having a very creative weekend!!

Spectacular Tribute III

Here is the next installment (page) from the memory album that I recently completed. I had forgotten to mention (i think) that I used the Rose Cottage Simply Scrappin' kit from SU! to create this album. I had to supplement with more of the solid papers (pom, sky, river rock and chocolate) and I added a few embellishments from my stash but it's basically from the kit.

I hope that everyone is having a very creative week!!

With the majority of large scale projects off of my 'to do' list for a while I am glad to have some of my own time to play and make things for my friends!! My darling friend Jen's birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks so since I'm a little ahead of the curve I wanted to make her birthday card!! I found this Reminisce paper a while ago and tucked it away for her. Her style is simple, preppie and classic. She has a few rooster adornments in her kitchen at home so I know she'll love this!! I paper pierced around the edges and faux stitched it with my white gel pen. I loved how it looked but it needed a little zip so I added some Heidi Swapp bling and that did just the trick!! The rooster paper is double sided with the reverse colors on the opposing side so I just cut out one panel and flipped it around so that it would match my sentiment of "One In A Million". I cut out the sentiment using my SU! word punch and popped it up on foam adhesive squares.

For the inside, I used a piece of SU! whisper white and I rubbed the edges of the white with my SU! Real Red ink pad and then matted it with a scrap piece of Basic Black.

Now..I just have to come up with the perfect gift!!!

I hope that everyone is having a very creative Monday!!

Happy Birthday Cousin!!!

It's amazing to me that my cousin's son is going to be 7!!!! Seven??? How did that happen?? He's a great kid, super sweet and a great older brother. He's WAY WAY WAY into sports...most especially baseball. And since we're in MA he's a pure blooded Red Sox fan!!!

So I decided to make some patterned paper custom designed just for him!! I wanted to keep it simple as the card is really for his Mom (my cousin Jodi) to enjoy...because really...he's 7...what does he care about the card for??? =)

But anyway, I pulled out my PTI Simple Alphabet set and got to work. It's hard getting the letters straight because they are TINY and all cut up individually but I think I made it work pretty well. I mounted them onto one of my long, thin acrylic blocks. I then decided that starting with the baseball first and then working the letters around it was the best. (after 2 or 3 attempts at lining it up correctly the other way around) I used SU! Real Red and Blue Bayou ink (retired).

I stamped the baseballs in Stazon and then lightly colored it with my Copic R29 - Lipstick Red. For the words, I just kind of eyeballed it all as I don't (unfortunately) have the patience for measuring and graphing it all out first. I really loved how it turned out!!!

I added an SU! large rivet, knotted with some hemp twine for another little touch. I had some of the SU! 5/8" grosgrain ribbon lying on my desk from another project so I stapled it on and LOVE how it looks! I used the first set that I ever bought - Circle of Friendship (SU!) with both Real Red and Night of Navy scraps. I stamped it in Basic Black and adhered it to the card with a foam adhesive square.

It's cut at 3.5 x 3.5 as it was my first attempt at creating patterned paper I didn't want it to be too daunting.

I hope that he has a SMASHINGLY, wonderful birthday!! Happy Birthday Cousin!!!

Just Because

It's a lot to explain...but I have become AMAZING friends with Kristyn...her RIDICULOUSLY gorgeous baby as well as her fabulous (and handsome!) husband Chris. I'm blessed to have met them and have them in my life. They are a WONDERFUL family with whom my husband and children also have a fantastic time with. We've all only been friends for a relatively short time yet it's one of those friendships that feels like it's ALWAYS been there.

I had the pleasure of meeting Chris' Mother, Lilo ;) when she was here visiting a few weeks ago. She is a joy to be around...one of those people who you meet and you instantly feel comfortable being around...and she is an inspiration as a Mother as Chris is one of the BEST men I know...a true, all around, wonderful person. Well rounded, solid in his convictions, and grounded. He's fun and funny and easy to be around! And I know that this is innately because of his Mother. She raised him right. She did a PHENOMENAL job. Kristyn and Chris are two of the best people and THE best couple. They are both blessed to have each other...nevermind their DELICIOUS daughter...whom I'd really like to put into a sundae cup and eat up with a spoon!! ;)

Anyway - this card is for Lilo. She, unfortunately, doesn't live close and I know that it must have been hard for her to leave.

I look very forward to seeing her again!!

I hope that everyone has a very creative weekend!

Inspired!

I can't take credit for the layout design of this card. I pulled out a bunch of papers last night and just sat there looking at them waiting for the inspiration to hit me. But after about 10 min I got bored and grabbed the most recent special issue of STAMP IT! cards magazine put out by Papercrafts Magazine. I found this ADORABLE mushroom card made by Laura Williams.

I have an adorable mushroom stamp from AMUSE so I thought I'd try this out for something simpler than what I've been doing lately. Well...you know how the idea comes together in your head but doesn't translate onto the paper so well??? Ya...that's what was happening. My mushrooms didn't look NEARLY as cute as Laura's did so I bagged the idea but kept the general layout and added my own touches.

But I do thank Laura for the great inspiration!!!

I hope that everyone is having a fabulously creative almost end of the week!!!
