I used the flowers to accent this mini card. I love the muted design but the intense POP of color and texture you get with these flowers!! I had so much fun working with them!!
The entire set is AMAZING and SOOOOOOOOOOOO versatile!!

Robyn's Fetish New Release BLOG HOP!!!

Hello Everyone!!

I'm SOOOOOOO excited to be hoppin' tonight!!! We have 2 very special things going on!!

First, Robyn has an entire collection of new December images for sale now at the shoppe!!! Wait until you see!!!

Secondly, we are introducing 6 new team members tonight on this hop!! Please welcome Joy, Michelle, Kym, Karen, Jeanette, and Leanne!!

You will be thrilled beyond belief with what our entire team has come up with in our creations!!! I think you will both inspired and excited at what's to come!!!

Here was the challenge issued to us:

• any RF image
• 1 patterned paper
• 3 colors of cardstock

I was lucky enough to be able to work with Hector da House Mouse in da Chimney . I've been giggling at him all day because he's just so darn cute!!!
My paper is all Crate Paper. Except for the plain white cardstock that I printed Hector out on. My card base is a chocolate brown, 6 x 6 square card.

My next layer is plain green distressed DP from Crate. It's the back of the striped trees you see at the bottom. I ran my crimson pigment ink pad over it, coated it in clear embossing powder and heat set it. It gave the paper a super cool texture.

I then stitched around the outside with green thread. I used my Cricut to cut the Christmas Tree border and dazzled it up a bit with the opposite side of the paper while the other trees received glittery treatments =)

The button trifecta is, as you know, one of my favorite combos to use. These are all vintage buttons from Nana's sewing basket. I trimmed Hector out for placement before I colored him and added the large, green chiffon bow with the tiny silver cording in the middle to balance the open space out.I colored Hector with my Copics and the rest of him was just completely glitterfied!!! I LOVE him he's just too stinkin' adorable!! As are ALL the rest of the images that Robyn has newly released!! You MUST run to the shop as everything is on sale!!! 30% off!!!!

QKD New Release Monday!!!

Hello! I trust that everyone had a nice holiday for those who celebrate!! I'm SO excited to be here with you today to show off QKD's newest stamps!!! Maigan's mermaids are nothing short of stunning...per usual! =)

If you're here 'just because'...THANKS!! But you MUST start at the beginning of the hop in order to see all of the FABULOUS new QKD releases!!

My first creation is with the serene and pensive Evangeline. I recently received her in the mail along with a prize that I'd won for a Design Team challenge. Vicki had packed a bag full of goodies and I challenged myself to use as many of them as possible as they were all so fun!! I used Ivory as my cardstock base at 6 x 5 1/2. I then used 2 patterned papers that were in the kit and stitched them together because I couldn't decide which one I liked more!!!
I then stamped Evangeline on another piece of the designer paper in brown pigment ink, heat embossed it and instantly LOVED how the cracking, foundation of blocks behind her came out when I colored the already brownish paper with my Copic YR24 - Pale Sepia. Then it started to have a 'bit' of a vintage touch about it.

Her chaise lounge chair is tufted with Turquoise velvet flock and the chair's feet are sparkled up with Chocolate brown glitter.

She is colored with my ever growing stash of Copic markers!! (I'm totally addicted!)
The added touches are the ribbon (which also came in the kit!) tied with some pale aqua ribbon to hold on one of my vintage buttons. The 3 subtle grey brads (from my kit!) at the bottom were from the kit and the paperclip embelli says "imagine" on it is from JoAnn's Fabrics.

I love when I go on vacation and come back renewed with a surge of creativity. It's very gratifying!!

My next creation is with Hookah! Oh do I LOVE her!!!!
She's super funky and sassy!!! You must head over to the shoppe and pick these lovely ladies up!! They are SO fun to work with!!!

I inked Hookah up in SU! Basic Grey ink. I then colored her with my Copics and gold paint pen. I added crackle glaze to her tail and set her aside to dry.
Hookah's card is 5 x 7 1/2 base made out of PTI's Smokey Shadow. The first layer of DP is a cool pink and black leopard print. The next layer I've been dying to work with for a while now is a circus themed paper. I stitched the two together with purple thread.

I then added a stripe of blue polka dotted ribbon and backed Hookah with PTI's New Leaf green cardstock.
My last touch (as the card with image is already very busy) is a carousel ride ticket that I had leftover from the last time we went to the local mall carousel! It fit the theme perfectly! I backed it with SU! Purely Pom paper and a slice of PTI New Leaf distressed with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Frayed Burlap. The ticket itself is popped up on a 3-d dot for some added dimension.

QKD Special Release!!! Happy Anniversary!!!

HOP HOP HOP!!!

Before I even get started, if you are here simply visiting then WELCOME!! But you'll want to start at the beginning of this amazing journey with the AMAZING ALEX to see everyone's newest and most fabulous creations from the very start!!!

This is a VERY fantastic and important hop indeed!!! I feel so excited to be here with QKD during this very special day!! It's QUEEN KAT DESIGNS STAMP COMPANY'S 3RD ANNIVERSARY!!! Queen Kat aka Vicki Douglas has LITERALLY poured her heart and soul into this company and it shows with her quality and care for each and every product, customer, and design team member.

AND AND AND!!! We have another NEW stamp designer to introduce you to!!! Her name is Kelly Kost and her designs are new and fabulous!!! Nothing like I've ever had access too before.

I have 2 creations to show you today!!!

My first creation is an accordion photo album with coordinating display box that I will use to put some of my favorite fall and Halloween pictures in when they arrive from Shutterfly.

I've ALWAYS been a HUGE fan of The Wizard Of Oz. I have vivid memories of the days when it used to be on once a year...I think it was in February or March. My Mom would pop Jiffy Pop and I'd stay up WAY past my bed time, be PETRIFIED of the witch and flying monkeys and not sleep a wink because of them but it was ALWAYS a magical night!!!

So when the Kelly's new stamps were released to us I KNEW exactly which stamp to request!! And believe me...I had a BALL with this one!!!
I started with the stamped image. I stamped the image in SU! Grey Ink. I then set to VERY carefully coloring with a combination of my Copics and metallic paint pens. I paid fine attention to the details on each character. Lion has sparkly ears, Dorothy has sparkly socks and of COURSE the Ruby Slippers, Toto is colored and heat embossed, The Tin "Girl" has beautiful streaks of silver in her hair and Scarecrow has pretty sparkly bloomers and belt along with gold toed slippers!! I left a 'tab' of sorts to stamp the "Friends Always" sentiment that comes with the set. They need each other as friends with The Wicked Witch coming after them!! =)
Next I matted the image onto some creepy comic book paper from a book that my Brother In Law gave me knowing that I could use in my creations. It's a book about Grimm's "Fairy Tales" but done in comic book fashion and done VERY SCARILY!! But it makes great background paper!!! I then matted that onto a slice of SU! black cardstock and stitched it down with red thread.

The next image I worked on was the Wicked Witch!!! It's a journal that I have that I scanned in and scaled down to work with my project. I used my fine tipped glue pen to glue up The Ruby Slippers and sparkle the heck out of them!! I matted this onto another piece of black cardstock and did the same stitching.
The background paper for the top of the box is PTI Pure Poppy. I distressed the edges and then super inked it up with my Versamark Dazzle Pad and then heat embossed it. After I added my 2 panels I then added a photo corner using my SU! photo corner punch (using the comic book paper) and a piece of a French Provincial mirror that I have that broke off years ago. It was just the right 'piece' to add a bit of...old fashioned touch. Considering the movie is 70 years old!!
I trimmed the outside edge of the box top in blue and whit gingham print ribbon - a la Dorothy's dress. The outside of the bottom box is in a blue and cream psuedo-Baroque paper that accents the gingham ribbon. Inside I covered and decorated the front and back of each accordion panel with first the comic book paper and then accents on each page awaiting their designated photos.

My second creation is a tag or could be used as an oversized card as the back is completely blank! I used my Cricut and cut a 7" circle with matching insert out of bright yellow paper and white for the insert. For the outside layer I rubbed an emeraldish green pigment ink pad around the edges and heat embossed it. I then used Aleene's Tacky Glue and rolled the edges through the glue and then through my vintage real glass emerald glitter. (you see the theme I'm rolling with ;)I set that aside to dry and set to work on the insert. I free hand drew the Yellow Brick Road, used a sharpie so it wouldn't bleed and colored the inside yellow with one of my Pantone markers. I then went over the lines of the brick road with my Versamark pen, sprinkled with embossing powder and heat set.I wasn't sure what to do with the extra white space because between the road and the copious amounts of glitter there was already a lot going on. So I used some of my acetate paper and trimmed it up to fit the space and adhered it down. I then couldn't decide how to add the fabulous foursome to the image. I wanted something different than just coloring them like I did in the photo box so I decided to go with clear acetate and my black Staz-on ink. I corner rounded the edges and place them on the yellow brick road so they would show up nicely.
I added a bright red ribbon to hang it by and the last touch was the witches feet with the ruby slippers and all sticking out from underneath the creation!

RF New Release Hop!! Friday the 13th!!! SO COOL!

Hello!!!! Welcome to another FABULOUS Robyn's Fetish Blog Hop!!!

If you're here to visit WELCOME!! But you definitely want to start at the beginning of this hop so you don't miss one fabulous creation!!!

I want to introduce you to Patty Pilgrim!!! She is SUPER cute and so versatile to work with!! I had the best time coloring her, especially the Cornucopia full of goodies that she's holding!! I started with some pieces of my favorite DP in a variety of fallish colors.
The base of my card is 6X6 and is made out of a dark rust color. It's actually confetti-like paper but hard to see in the photos. The next layer is this gorgeous leaf paper in blues and greens. I then colored Patty with my Copics. I used my Versamark pen to color her hat and heat emboss with silver glitter embossing powder and her shoes as well. I colored them with the Versamark pen and covered them with clear embossing powder to make them look like they are patent leather.
I then stitched Pattyt to a slice of orangey/rusty colored cardstock using lime green thread in a zig zag pattern and attached that panel to a cool, speckly piece of Basic Grey green/blue paper with the edges distressed.

I trimmed a piece of orangy swirls from another piece of Basic Grey to add as an accent on the card base. I stitched that down as well using a straight stitch. I then added 2, small, square brads on the edge for a little touch. Lastly I used my last speck of this beautiful, sheer peachy ribbon adorned with a real vintage tortoise button with an amber colored rhinestone in the middle.

I did an ENTIRELY different interpretation of Mia this time around!!! I completely challenged myself to do a card in only Grey, Black and White and any variations of those. DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD THAT IS??? =) I do now!!

I've been wanting to do something in pure black and white for some time now and have not had enough head space lately to tackle it. But I did today.
I started coloring...figuring...if it didn't work out at the fundamentals of the card (the main image) then I'd stop there. So I pulled out my black, grey and blender Copics, my fine art sketch pencils which are graded H for Hard or B for Black. Hard pencils are best for fine line, black pencils are better for most types of drawing and for shading in. An all purpose pencil is HB (just in the middle), but you can usually find H, 2H, 3H, 4H, B, 2B, 3B, 4B - and sometimes even higher numbers.

Anyway - (I'm a little obsessed with pencils!) I also used my silver paint pen, my silver and clear glittery Sakura pens, and a few regular colored pencils in white, grey, black, and silver.
I wanted the most texture on the image that I could create using only black and white.

The other cool thing about this card is that Mia is not attached to the card with the exception of the fibers that are holding her on. So if I were to give this card away I'd include a separate piece of long black ribbon and instruct the recipient to snip the existing thread and use the extra ribbon to tie through to create a snazzy bookmark!!! So when you actually hold this card Mia swings gently back and forth. It's pretty cool!

So I started coloring and while challenging I found it really fun!! I think she looks somewhat robotic, somewhat 'Wizard of Oz - Tin Man-esque', somewhat mystical, "Matrix-y". Not scary, not freaky...but perhaps a little...bizarre...spooky even. Which I totally dig this time of year!!

After I had her colored she still looked a bit flat. So I added rhinestones to her tail, sparkles to some of her flowers and silver paint to other flowers. I sparkled up her itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny black and white polka dot bikini!! and added white velvet flock to her bow. After that she totally jumped out at me!!
I matted her on SU! black cardstock and corner rounded 2 of the 4 corners. I punched a small hole and threaded through black yarn fiber, silver elastic cording and black and white ticking ribbon.
Setting that aside I turned to the card base itself. I used a 5x5 black cardstock base, followed by a white matte trimmed in 1/4" and edge distressed. I went looking for grey or silver paper in my stash and didn't find any that worked. And then I saw my newspaper scraps. THAT worked great. I stitched the newspaper to the white matte. I then used scraps of my Tinkering Ink paper in Noir Blanc and cut 4 squares measuring 2" square all around. I puzzle pieced them together for a 'psuedo checkerboard' feeling. I liked how it looked but it still looked like it was missing...something.

So I started looking around at my stashes. Large, white buttons - very 'mod', white silky primas - too delicate, ribbons that were all too - cutsie. So I cheated...JUST A LITTLE BIT and hit my sticker drawer. I searched and searched and finally came across these fabulous, shiny and silver skull stickers that I bought for this Halloween season. It would have been absolutely perfect if they were solid black, white and silver but they're not. Either way, I grabbed the largest one and centered it in the middle of the 4 tiles.
When Mia is there you don't notice the intense yet super cool tattoo style skull behind her!! But when you clip her off to use her as a bookmark you have a different card entirely to display!!

QKD Royal Wed - NEW RELEASES!!!!

I SIMPLY love New Releases!!! Believe me, I LOVE all the stamps I own and I'll use them hundreds of times over but there's something about a new image that's just SO SUPER fun!!

This gorgeous lady is Monarch Mia!! Just another amazing and stunning design from Maigan-Lynn!
I wanted to do something sparkly, girlie, whimsical and fun. So I looked through my newest paper purchase which was an on sale, end of summer paper pack from K&Company. It had papers with whales, submarines, waves, mermaids, sea horse, etc. Super cute with kind of retro-eclectic 60's designs, great colors. So I grabbed it up. I pulled out the papers with sea horses and mermaids. The colors were orange, pink, chocolate. So I ran with that.

I inked her in brown Colorbox ink and stamped her on a relatively old piece of parchment stationary and heat set her.

I grabbed the Copics and sparkly pens that I needed to work with Mia and set to it. My daughter has the coolest doll with hair that's, hot pink, orange, and yellow. So that's EXACTLY what I did. (I keep trying to snag the doll to have her sit on a shelf in my office as inspiration but Kendall keeps snagging her back! LOL!)

I thoroughly enjoyed coloring her and shifting color so that the image balanced well...I love the pop of turquoise. I blinged her butterfly-ish tail fin just a little with my silver paint pen and sparkled up the giant daisy/black eyed susan that she's perched on with my glue pen and some bright orange glitter.

I couldn't decide what her actual tail color should be so I decided to paper piece her. This heart paper is also from the same paper stack. I stamped her again on the heart paper, embossed, heat set and then just trimmed her tail out and glued it down. I LOVE this technique!!! It's so eye catching!!

With all of the coloring done, I set to matting my image on yellow and brown cardstock. I tied a sheer gold ribbon around the bottom and set her aside.

I made my card base out of this SU!'s pretty in pink and then PTI's summer sunrise. I adhered them together. I then adhered and stitched the chocolate brown and white polka dot ribbon to those layers.

I then took the mermaid paper, the seahorse paper and another matte of brown - adhered and stitched together. I then adhered Mia to the mix and then used PTI summer sunrise matching polka dot ribbon to tie around that entire stack. I then zig zag stitched around the perimeter making sure to INCLUDE the ribbon in my stitching to hold it down and give it an interesting texture.

The button trio was added at the end. They are all tied with hemp twine.

I truly hope you enjoyed my new creations with Mia!!! You MUST run to the store to grab yourself one or 8!! LOL! Yes...I'm a bad enabler...I know!!

QKD Royal Wed - NEW RELEASES!!!!

Hi Everyone!! Welcome to yet ANOTHER new release!!! The Queen has been VERY busy!!! =) I want to RE-introduce you all to Nivea (who you saw during our last new release) but THIS time she has a GORGEOUS background to work with!! YAY!!!

And it's also another ROYAL MONDAY HOP!!! If you hopped here from the Penny's blog then you are on the right track!! If you stumbled here 'just because' you'll DEFINITELY want to start at the beginning of the hop so as not to miss one of the teams GORGEOUS creations!!

Nivea now has a BEAUTIFUL castle complete with princess turrets, gardens and BUBBLES galore...of COURSE!!!I wanted to do something 'different' with her so I looked around my studio. I had purchased some decor for my kitchen that ended up being damaged...from Linens and Things and since they are long out of business I just put it in the 'eventually will be used' pile.

So it was an easy 'go-to' for me this project. I wanted an eclectic and funky feel to it so I grabbed a bunch of mis-matchy scrap and set to it. I adhered the green dotted paper first on one edge. I then layed it down - face down - and used my Exacto craft knife to trim around the rest of the edges and I then adhered it all with 'red-liner' tape so that the entire 'canvas' if you will, was covered in the green paper with polka dots. I then set that aside. I turned my focus to coloring Nivea. I used my Copics, gold paint pen, and my white gel pen. I had a GREAT time coloring her!!!I matted her on light blue, kraft and gold papers incrementally...corner rounding the gold paper. I then used some red scrap DP, corner rounded and zig zag stitched them together.

I then added a beautiful, sheer turquoise with white polka dot buttony, bow combo that I learned from my bestie friend in real life Joanne!! Such a great technique!!
I then went back to working on the plaque. I added some funky wave paper in opposing colors and shapes and stitched on some red pom pom trim. I adhered that to the right edge. I then added my Nivea with Background all done and matted up and sat back and looked at it.

It was GREAT...but missing....that.....something. I looked around and had another largish scrap with these pink, green and blue bullseyes all over it. I grabbed my 1-1/4" punch and punched them all out. I adhered them to thin cardboard and coated them with lots of glossy glaze! I let them dry overnight and added them in the am with 3-D glue dots. The effect I wanted was complete!! I think they look like funky bubbles swirling all around her in her beautiful world!!!
I am THRILLED at how it all turned out and I hope you enjoy it too!!!
