Altered Celestial Seasonings Tea Tin with Mini Scrapbook

My darling friend Joanne asked me to make something for her to display on her new "Meet My Friends" section on her blog. I've been holding this post until she posted my creation so now I can put it up here!
It's an altered Celestial Seasonings tea tin that I picked up in Colorado years ago at the Celestial Seasonings factory. Had I know I was going to be SO sucked down the rabbit hole of crafting this many years later I would have picked up 50 of them! hehehehe...but alas, it's my only one. So I'm most definitely keeping this one for me but it's such a great gift!
Process:

I created a template/pattern using the tin as a guide for the top and bottom as well as the inside. I traced the tin on scratch paper and then cut the pieces out. I then traced them (all free hand) onto my chosen cardstock. I then cut the pieces out free hand (there has to be a better way but I haven't figured it out yet since it's my first one). The pieces don't fit *exact* but they're very close. I'm kind of picky about details so the fact that they don't fit perfectly vexes me a little.

I then measured the inside and cut my accordion album at 12" wide by 3" tall. The individual album pages are 2" each so there are 6 of them on each side. I printed the photos of my children on regular paper (just because I didn't have photo paper) but if I were doing it for someone else I would invest in the photo paper. But my printer is pretty good so the pics on regular paper came out pretty decent. I decorated the tin first and then the album. I added the pics of the kids at the very end and then decorated it a little more. All in all it probably took me about 3 hours.

My DH

so i made a bunch of father's day cards for my dad, for other people to give to their dads...but i didn't want to give my husband the same card that he'd seen me make for others. so i parused...and i parused...and I saw a lot of cards regaling dads as heros. so i was inspired and went to my "studio" (that's what i now call my crafting area in my dark, spider filled basement...but it's all mine and it is where i become inspired so it is in effect my "studio") but i digress...

my husband is in every sense of the word my hero. it's too much and too personal to really get into on this light hearted crafty medium i have going on here but those of you who really know me, my upbringing and my personality...know what i'm talking about.

we've been together coming up on 16 years next month (the anniversary of our first date is July 15th) and i don't regret one second of our time spent together. besides the fact that if we didn't want to we wouldn't have to talk or give direction to the other because the other one knows...and we're never wrong. if he has to make a decision in my absence or me for him...its always right...always. we know how the other one thinks, what they'd say, what they'd do and how they'd react. sentences are finished by one another, moods are detected before they even surface. we can bicker and be done in 5 minutes and laughing about it.

he's my hero and has been now for almost half my life....i love him with every fiber of my being and then some...he's the BEST husband and friend i could ask for...and he's by far the BEST dad in the world...

i could go on and on but what you all really want to see is the card, right??? hehehe...

ok well here it is!

Teenage Thank You

DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE BLOG CANDY BELOW!! IT RUNS THROUGH THIS FRIDAY!!
My dear friend AMA asked me to do a set of thank you cards for her god-daughter for her graduation from 8th grade. Here's what I came up with...and to note...I sorta CASED the basic design off of a card that we made last night at my friend Sarah's: (thanks love!!)

Basic Recipe:

Cardstock: SU! Vintage Violet, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White, Junkitz Collectionz Paperz - Teen Camo, and MemoriesComplete in Tasty Iced.

Stamps: SU! Much Appreciated

Ink: Vintage Violet

Embellishments: SU! Elegant Eggplant grosgrain ribbon, SU! Word Punch and Ticket Corner Punch, Heidi Swapp Bling, Prima flowers and Making Memories rhinestone brads.

I printed 'Alison' on the cardstock using my laserjet printer. I knew I wouldn't be able to stamp that neatly.

Daisy

My SIL asked me to make a card for her husband for Father's Day. He is most definitely a Dad, a doggie Dad, that is. Daisy is their 2 y.o. English Bulldog and she's the apple of their eye. She's gorgeous, snorty, fuzzy, slobbery, panty, delicious, snuggly, and fabulous. My SIL asked me to incorporate her into my BIL's Father's Day card. Daisy wears a Red Sox collar most of the time so she's not the girliest dog out there. But I dressed her up for this very special occasion with some Heidi Swapp *bling* and I also "painted" her nails with a bright pink Sakura stardust pen. (I crack myself up) So I truly hope he enjoys this card!

Basic Recipe:
Cardstock: all SU! Barely Banana, Very Vanilla, Spring Showers DP
Ink: SU! Chocolate
Stamps: Happy Father's Day from the $ bin at Michael's, Inkadinkadoo pawprint
Embellishments: SU! Grosgrain ribbon in Chocolate and French Blue, slit punch

Dr. Fish

I love our pedi. She's AMAZING! Her name is Dr. Fishman but around the house we call her "The Fish"...for anyone who adored Ally McBeal you'll get the reference. She's tough, smart, sassy, sweet, and above and beyond caring. I take her advice and trust my children with her...implicitly. If anyone lives in my area and needs a pedi...she's your woman.

I have my son's 15 month appt tomorrow and we're looking forward to seeing her! And because I love her so much I've made her some sassy notecards!

I hope that everyone is having a creative day!

Basic Recipe:

Cardstock: SU! Cool Carribean, Whisper White, Tinkering Ink DP in Mum's The Word and Cameo

Embellishments: SU! 1 1/4" circle punch, Cuttlebug letters (Olivia), Heidi Swapp *bling*

1K!!! YAY!

Ok, I totally know that it's time for some BLOG CANDY! and it would be to celebrate my 1K marker! YAY! people DO read me!!!! hahahahha...just kidding ;) but seriously...ill be putting together some blog candy most likely in the next couple of days. my DH has been in Paris all week for work so I've kind of been in hunker down mode...so please...cut me some slack ;)

So instead of card pics tonight...here are just a couple of really cool shots my DH sent me this week. And for those of you who don't know me...I'm a former Louis Vuitton addict. So my husband has to torture me with that shot and for those of you who don't know my husband...he's silly, goofy, amazing, fabulous and a hopeless romantic and therefore he sent me a picture of himself. ; ) And it made me smile ear to ear....for days. I can't wait for him to come back tomorrow!!!
