TAWS New Release Blog hop - February 2015

Greetings Crafty Friends!!

So glad you're here with me hopping for today's new release Blog Hop at The Alley Way Stamps!!  You should be arriving from Marina's blog and if not make sure to start at the beginning so you don't miss any gorgeous creations! You've been along with us for the three day sneak peek ride and today's the day you can purchase all of the new TAWS stamps!!  Alison has totally outdone herself, yet again, with this month's release!  Such awesome critters and adorable images coming your way!
Today I'm using a new set called "Tootharina" which couldn't be any cuter!!  I've been on a huge watercoloring kick lately and today's creation is no exception!  I inked Tootharina using black Momento Ink onto really good quality watercolor paper.  I'm not preferential to a brand but it has to be really thick - at LEAST 140lb.  I used some Distress Markers and some Sakura pan watercolors to create my image.  I have to say that I love the exaggerated look of the super bright cheeks on cute images like this.  I then stamped her name - of which the font is BEAUTIFUL onto the panel and set it aside.
I pieced together this background from a variety of papers that I've received in multiple Studio Calico kits over the months.  I stitched them together and then placed the super cute postage stamp that's in the set in the top right.  I stamped the tooth from the set and trimmed it out to add to my main panel for some added balance and cuteness!

I added a die cut arrow from THIS set using awesome glitter paper that I picked up at my local Michael's.  I stopped here because I had so many layers and bright colors I didn't want to overwhelm the rest of the card.

I hope you've enjoyed my project!  Now it's off to N@Ali's blog to see what awesome project she's got in store for you!  And check out the full hop list below along with some fabulous information about this release!

Just for fun, I'm entering this into the SSS Anything Goes Challenge going on now!

TAWS New Release Peek Day #3

Greetings TAWS Friends!!  I'm so excited to be here with you bringing another month's new release!!  Oh this month is nothing short of adorable, sweet and cuddly!!  Today I'm peeking a new set called Branching Out.  It's snuggly and warm with beautiful birch trees and some fun and furry creatures to combine to create lots of fun scenes.

I first inked my birch trees with Versamark Ink and stamped them onto good quality watercolor paper.  I heat embossed them with white embossing powder and I used my Distress Inks in Peacock Feather, Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn to liberally sponged my background and then splattered pearlized water to create some drips and subtle shine.  I took a baby wipe to the birch trees to clear off any excess ink that may have stuck to them during the inking process.
I colored this adorable fox with a combination of watercolor paints and Copic markers finishing him off with my Wink of Stella pen to give him a little shimmer.
I stamped my sentiment in Delicata Gold ink and heat set it with gold embossing powder.  I then inked the heart from another new set that's coming your way called Stumped.  I trimmed the hearts out and popped them up on tiny pieces of foam adhesive as you can see in the picture above.  I added some sequins scattered about for a nice touch of texture and shine.

Thanks so much for coming by today!

See you for the new release blog hop tomorrow!!

What a storm!

Hey All!!

For those of you in the Northeast region I hope you all survived the snow safely!!  We had a great time hunkering down and riding out the storm.  Later in the day the older kids headed outside with Ian to shovel, snow blow and sled while I stayed inside with Ari.  It was a bit too cold for him and quite honestly, too deep!  And, while I'm being honest, I don't really like playing in the snow either!  I'll do it to be with my kids but I don't enjoy it - not for one second!  HA!  I'd MUCH rather be inside playing, creating and/or snuggling.

Anyway, while the rest of the world had a snow day, we had school!  I know, boo on me for making my kids school but honestly, they've got it good over here!  They get more free time and more fun time than the kids in school any day!  I will say that I let them have a pajama day AND we played games during school!  AND they got to play in the snow both inside and out!

We carried on with our unit on Ancient Egypt learning how mummification works - I heard the word 'gross' at least a dozen times.  We learned how farming works in the desert, thanks in part to the regular flooding of the Nile and we talked a lot about daily life.  The children did their DEAR time and today Daddy was a "guest lecturer" (lol) and worked with them on fractions.  (a subject that I abhor!)

Catching Up!

Good Blizzardy Morning!!

We are so excited with all of this snow!!  I know, I know it's a pain for some but we really love to hunker down, keep the weather channel on in the background and watch out the windows all day on a day like today!  Fingers are crossed all around that we don't lose power but beyond that - we're happy.

We finished up our unit on Mesopotamia last week and we journeyed to Ancient Egypt yesterday!!  I have put together lots of fun materials, some that I had and some that I purchased here.  I find it a great resource for fun, supplemental materials.
