Oh so much to show you today!!! In this post I am proud to introduce you to one of our new mermaids Nivea!!! That Maigan Lynn...she is some kind of talent...seriously. She never ceases to amaze me!

I have two projects to show you that I made with Nivea. One is a Jumbo Tag card and the other is an altered ribbon bookmark!

We'll start with the Jumbo Tag Card.

I have these huge tags that I purchased at my LSS some time ago. They work well for SO many different purposes!! They are the standard manila color that these tags usually are but I covered mine in front with SU! Basic Black cardstock on one side and pure white on the back where the writing would go. After that was done, I set the tag aside and worked on Nivea. I stamped her in SU! Basic Black ink. No heat embossing...shocking...I know! I was trying to bust out a different style than I normally do =) I colored her with my Copics, sparkly Sakura gel pens and fine art colored pencils.

I had some SU! rub ons laying around that I knew would compliment around Nivea so I set to adding them on pretty haphazardly. I then mounted her image on blue cardstock and used my sticky rub ons to add the "free spirit' sentiment then sprinkled with black glitter. I added the parenthesis rub ons from Hambly on top and bottom to complete and balance the entire image.

Lastly I used some of my favorite satin ribbon..white with black polka dots! This would be great to tie onto a gift or a gift bag. But, of course, I'm keeping her in MY stash!! Wouldn't you??

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My next design with Nivea is an altered ribbon bookmark!!! I've been making these for years as mail holders, bookmarks, markers for portable calendars, etc. I just knew that I wanted to do something 'different' so I incorporated Nivea into one of my bookmarks!!!

I first started by stamping her on SU! Creamy Caramel cardstock. I then set to painting her gorgeous flowing hair and tail with my Sakura watercolors. I didn't water them down however, I treated them more like I would acrylics and simply painted with them...sans water. I love the dimensional effect they have when you touch the bookmark. Her top and tail were colored with Copics and her stars and embellishments were colored with a white gel pen.
Trimming her out was a bit challenging but I love a challenge!! After I trimmed her out I dipped her eyelashes in glue and then in chunky, pink art glitter. I LOVE how this came out as back in my "younger" days I would have work the same sparkly makeup when going out!!! ;)
Lastly, I made the bookmark with coordinating ribbon colors and adhered her on with a jumbo 3-D glue dot. She's been hanging out in my planner ever since!!!
